I'm in the process of purchasing a new to me 2009 tacoma from out of state, that so far, I have only seen in pictures. There are no stickers on the back to specify whether it has a TRD, SR5, Sport, or Off-Road package. I can only assume by the pictures that is not a sport, cause it has no scoop. Based on pictures of the dashboard, I can assume it has some sort of Off-Road package, because all the switch slots are occupied right under the light dimmer and there is an A-Track switch right next to the cigarrette lighter. Other than that, I have no idea what else was added in the original purchase of this truck. My question is: Is there a way to find out all the specs and added features of this truck, just by the VIN number? Or can I take it to the dealers and have them run the VIN to see what configuration is suppose to have? Sorry for the long question.

That decode is about all you're gonna get from the vim unless you ask the individual dealer that's old the truck new.

ATRAC button means TRD Off Road. If there's pics of the bed, it should also have a plug on the rear passenger side.

Other thing to check Rear leaf TSB (since its out of warranty) 3 leafs without, 4 leafs with. Unless you're planning on lifting and replacing rear leaf pack anyways. Post a pic of the rear and ill tell you whether it appears to have the tow package or not. Tow package hitch is unique compared to Reese and other aftermarket.

Defintly a TRD OR based on the buttons in the cab and seats are the TRD seats as well. Confirm the 12V outlet in the bed?

Price seems pretty reasonable especially since they don't know it's a TRD...? But maybe try to knock some more dollars off because of the miles.

Carfax doesn't show it, but it looks like it might be a repaint, if there were better pics of the bed I would have a more positive idea.

I also see that it was a Government vehicle, they usually don't report accident info.

I would pass on this one, something JDLR.

I checked the history with the Toyota dealership, and according to them, all service and maintenance has been done by them cause it is a Gov. vehicle and they have these vehicles on a service contract. The reason I went in anyways despite the mileage, is because it is easier to find big foot than one of those in my neck of the woods! 2WD PreRunners are a dime a dozen, but the off-road ones, are very rare. I did not find a single one in the whole state of Texas that was for sale. The only other one I found, was from VA. but CarFax confirmed that it was used as a bumper car or derby,(too many accidents). Paint scratches are not my priority cause I'm going to use this truck for what it was made for (drive the s&*t out of it thru anything and work it like an illegal alien!):D
