When you first fire it up it will draw from the tank but it will flow back in when engine is at operating temp. When it's stoopid hot outside and your sitting in traffic, you may smell the fluid. Don't freak out, that's the excess expansion back to the reservoir and out via the black tube that runs down the side of it. No need to replace any unless it doesn't stop leaking...which means you have a different problem.

a couple o flushes in Ur driveway wont hurt a thing

fill run to hot then drain

garden hose water aint that bad that a 5min flush will contaminate

there are areas in an engine where flow is slight

even when needle is straight up there are wide variances inside the engine

Coolant is expensive enough, no need to drop $50-$200 on the kit which most people think they need.
Unless you can dyno 500+rwhp or more there isn't a need for a special filler or kit.

I disagree with this. Universal coolants like SuperTech, Peak, Prestone, etc… are just fine to replace the overpriced corporate antifreezes. Just follow the directions of the antifreeze manufacturer for correct usage. I have never used Toyota branded antifreezes/coolants in any of my Toyota/Lexus vehicles, ever. Their main requirement is that the antifreeze not contain silicates.

    people don’t “think they need”
Warranties, repair manuals, shops, and factories require it, whether a car has 300hp or 100hp

or if you want to do it the wrong way that works too
Might add some spice and fun to the experience instead of the boringness that comes with doing something properly the first time and having no issues and having no doubts about if it worked

let me ask another question,my truck holds 9.1 quarts of fluid now when i do a flush with say 2 gallons of distilled water or 8 quarts and when i drain it i get about 2 gallons out which is 8 quarts does that mean that there is still 1.1 quarts in the block? Also is it necessary to get that out as well?

The drain plug on the right side (PS) is easy to get to and will drain 90% of the block. Remember in an early post what I said about the left drain.
If it was my truck, I'd drain the block and make it your truck.

There is still some in the block unless you left the old radiator and hoses off for a day or two, not a fan of that unless you have a tight, dry shop. That's why you fill gradually, run and fill again.

well the reason for the new radiator is because i got in a wreck and it thrashed my old one and so the old one was taken out over a week ago while we worked on pounding the rad support back into shape and test fitting other pieces. So maybe i'll open up the petcock once i find it and see if it drains anything?

After the second time of putting in new coolant and opening/draining both the PS/DS plugs, the time and hassle to drain the DS ain't worth the time. And going by your posts we'll keep everything accessible.

Glad to hear you tried to rescue the support and tested other fittings. It means you aren't afraid of throwing the dice and learning along the way.
If it sat that long then you put the new rad in, going for the right side drain plug isn't a bad option, if nothing comes out you can try the petcock but it will most likely be dry too.
Just fill gradually and keep an eye on the rpms and idiot gauge.

    Passenger Side, drivers side.

It's for those of us who are dyslexic (maybe we started it lol) since "right" and "left" leads to "your right or left? facing which way?"
