I can tell you that even if it did fit, the single din harness will be missing pins that the ddin has/needs. so use the new harness.

so, you'd rather check with random internet people vs calling Pioneer tech support?

Yes, calling 800-PIONEER would be easy but easier just to sometimes ask a question to a board that has more people that might know the answer because they have ran into this same situation. Also, might be quicker. I have been in the 12vt industry doing all walks of life of audio & video sec/rs for 22 years. This "random" person says if it matches and fits it will be the same. Granted I don't know how old or model of the current pioneer is, but pioneer nor other manufactures that make these harnesses are not trying to make it complicated. They only change every few to 7 years. Yes the harness could and will be different (because it will not have a parking brake or possibly and illumination wire in it) but as for following it as a guide to install the new one YES you can. I do my research and this forum is another tool to use. I don't think relying/asking for guidance here is a back thing sometimes. I know that if I wanted to install some led light strips in my truck and needed to get power, I wouldn't call Toyota or the led company for wiring info. Just saying
