Greetings everyone. I'm a new member here and have enjoyed this forum tremendously. After 330000 miles on my 04' 4x4 xtra cab automatic Tacoma I had to replace the 2.7 engine. I had a rebuilt engine with 0 miles on it put in recently and I'm in the process of breaking it in now. It has about 500 miles on it so its still early but i have noticed a significant lack of power both in accelerating and in maintaining speed on the freeway.. it feels "soft" when stepping on the gas and it doesnt hold speed much above 60mph even on flat straight stretches of the freeway.. on hills or inclines the lack of power becomes really obvious. Just looking for any suggestions or input you may have on this.. other than the lack of power it drives great.. very smooth and "clean".. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Assuming there is not a restricted exhaust, I think I would look at Cam timing and Fuel Pressure and Volume. If you paid to have the engine replaced by a reputable Garage I would return there and explain your concerns to them.

Welcome to TW! Maybe a proper tune after the break-in period?
