New recall on our trucks...rear leaf pack...?

So what does the new recall replace or repair? I see 2005-2011 Tacoma's are included. Something about a rear suspension part breaking and possibly puncturing the gas tank or cutting a brake line? Anyone have a better clue as to what is going on? I had the TSB done on mine to replace the weak rear spring packs, I had 500 #'s in the back and rode the bump stops home from Alabama. So I wonder if it applies to my spring pack too?

 

Why not click on one of the other dozen threads about this? There is no answer from Toyota yet on the fix.

 

I had scrolled down a page or two but did not go back far enough. I would imagine the fix will be a band to hold them together in case it does happen.

SUMMARY:
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner and 4x4 vehicles manufactured September 14, 2009, to October 11, 2010. In the affected vehicles, one of the leaf springs may fracture due to stress or corrosion. While being driven, the broken leaf could move out of position and contact surrounding components including the fuel tank, possibly puncturing the tank and causing a fuel leak.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the fuel tank leaks fuel from being punctured, there is an increased risk of a fire.
REMEDY:
The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin November 28, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

I iust got the recall for the frame coating in the mail the other day. Now i get new leaf packs? sweet!

 

I dont have to worry about this. Got a 2002. Would be nice to have some new leave packs though.

 

Go out to your tuck. If it has 2+1 style they will replace them. If you have 3+1 no need for replacement.
mine replaced before the recall came out, so i know it's legit.

 

Toyota says the fix is " still under development "

My money is on adding a clip

 

They replaced both sides with all new.

 

That TSB is different than this recall

 

I tried tsb for rear leafs and was blown off, think I'll try a diff dealership.

I'd have to remove my aal or do they send us packing with the old if we ask for them?

 

The recall date on this one is November 28th so the dealerships may not even know about it just yet. Not sure on your AAL.

 

Again , the " harsh ride " TSB and this recall are two different things
