I just gave my wife’s Camry the five month old Tacoma battery. Put a red top in the Tacoma with the spacers and they don’t fit the OEM tray. It seems the red top is a little shorter than the OEM battery. I’ve cranked down the tie down to the point that it’s deforming the battery tray and it’s still not tight enough for off roading. If I really push and pull on it it slips just a little bit which isn’t cool.
Can somebody point me to a decent aftermarket battery tiedown so I can throw the OEM in the trash?
And the negative post is a smaller diameter in the red but I can shim it.

So you're telling me you bought a fancy new battery and put the castaway used in your spouses car?

Yep. Hers was six years old. A single Baja trip and the vents are leaking? No thanks!

The OP doesn’t get it. I’ll explain. Wife’s car gets new parts first.

There are expensive cool overlanding battery brackets out there.

For the sake of saving the remains of your marriage, I suggest adding a shitload of washers to your OEM bracket. Put that money towards a cool mod in the Camry.

Heck, I’d move that red top to her car right quick.

I'm with ya OP, no sense throwing out a good battery (6 mo old) and you changed the wife's before it went bad and left her somewhere. These other guys can preach all they want, but it's just soapbox highhorsery, don't you think on it.

My wife would have never known she didn't get a new battery.:anonymous:

With that said, she only drove her Tacoma 185 miles last year (2020).

I've seen new batteries dated older than 6 months on the shelf.

Boo to you sir. Once upon a time in small town america, a group cranky old farts would gather in front of the hardware store and find the poor young bastard that looked the least bit confused and then proceed to say "oh you're hanging up your shingles on an inverse corner like that? You totally need a left-handed hammer for that job. Go on in, I think Harry has a few left in the back." In that world you're the spoilsport widow that sits opposite of them with her knitting and says "don't pay them no mind, them goofy old men have no sense to come in out the rain."

    Fun-ruiner. :annoyed:

I try to be nice to the under 100 message crew, especially in the 3rd gen section... It might be the only time they see good advice haha

Tacoma battery is 24f, I put a yellow top 35 battery and used the provided plastic spacer and it fit fine. If the Camry is also a 24f, there shouldn’t be a problem I think.

Actually for your specific problem OP, maybe just a cut up piece of cutting board, sounds like you just need a very tiny riser to meet the hold down. That's the cheapest heavy duty plastic you can buy

20 maybe, 50 tops, after that they either fly or crash to the ground and get eaten by the cat.
