Doubling up on a post for visibility, I made a post over on the 5.29 Megathread here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-5-29-mega-thread.557305/page-117#post-22880380

Long story short, got my truck back from the shop yesterday, did a few short drives to break in the new gears, drove with 4Hi engaged to get some torque on those front gears.

Came home from my third drive, 60 miles total on the gears at this point and my front diff was smoking, gear oil everywhere.

I'm a little worried about potential permanent damage to my new gearset, so if anyone has any opinions on that, I'd love to hear. I'm going to go check the drain and fill plugs for tightness and hopefully that'll be it. Unfortunately there are no gear shops open till Monday so I gotta figure this one out on my own for now.
