Yes brand new, i'm not sure how I feel about buying brand new. I'm more happy I did than if i would have gone used.

The reason I say this is because 1. It's new and I don't have to worry about anyone else's problem 2. I'm establishing credit for myself 3. I now realize buying brand new comes with more than just the LIST price haha AKA all the extra fees they don't tell you about (learned the hard way) 4. Well it's new and I've never bought anything this big for myself that I can say is NEW.

but I know you said going used would have been better and I agree in a sense that I would have saved so much more money in the long run which would have also been very smart. I think the next time I buy I will definitely buy used because there are great used bikes out there in like new condition.

As for the power, well I love it. It has a lot of grunt to it and it is definitely fast. I am learning and I can no way use it to it's full potential right now. I'm very happy I got the 125 as I feel it's much better to learn on, now that I have it. I'm definitely still getting used to it and getting comfortable, but that will come in time. Like I said I'm still trying to find neutral haha!

awesome, glad you decided on the smaller bike. Its going to take at least a few years before you will be able to ride that bike to its potential, and by then you will be a very good rider. Just take it easy the first few times out lol.

    lol x2

and that right there is a 125 being ridden to its potential. No one on this forum is that fast on a 125, just goes to show what the bike is capable of.

    Congrats bro!

    Great choice.

Nothing I can say about a new bike that these guys havn't covered... But yeh you should find neutral easier to find after a few months of riding and oil changes! I need to get my credit up too, I was looking at a new RMZ, but now I'm thinking about another YZ! I miss my 2 smoker. :(

Alright guys I have some really stupid questions for you guys. Aside from the MX b/s stuff.

This is my first two stroke, not including RC cars.

I seriously thought this things didn't take any oil. I thought these were like RC trucks (Don't ask why), and it sounds stupid because I work on two stroke diesel locomotives at work that take oil haha. I thought that's what the premix was for. Anyway stupid moment.

I am a pretty meticulous person when it comes to maintenance, especially on my truck. I feel the same way about this bike.

    My questions for you are:

How often should the crankcase oil be changed? What type of oil is used/recommended/preferred?

How often is the gearbox oil changed? What is used/recommended/preferred?

How often and with what do you use to lubricate the chain?

How often and with what do you use to lubricate the clutch/brake cables?

How often and what oil is used for the air filter?

ANY other maintenance items I missed that anyone can tell me about would be very appreciated.

    see the red^

Also make sure you check tire pressure regularly. Also on a new bike I would go through all the bearings and grease them up, especially the steering head and rear suspension linkage.

If you use a pressure washer to clean the bike, do not directly spray any bearings. (I would personally never use one on my bike but thats just me).

As for premix, I liked belray MC-1 mixed at 50:1. I would recommend running closer to 32:1 on that 125.

thats all I can think of, read the owners manual completely.

What is the ideal tire pressure for these bikes? And I believe the guy at the place I bought it from said for the first two tanks run 36.1 for break in and then go to 40.1. I'm sure opinions differ on that though.

well I ran 50:1 in my KX125 but with belray MC-1 which seems to be higher quality then the rest. I would keep it at 32:1 or even richer for break in then 40:1 would be fine.

also tire pressure changes depending on conditions. Around 15psi front and rear is fine as long as you're not pounding sharp rocks. too much pressure makes the bike impossible to control.

I believe I will be making a trip to the store here soon. The guy said use Amsoil it is good stuff. I said sure because I had no idea? So belray for the chain, belray for premix, and rotella 15w40 for the crankcase?

amsoil is awesome too, just more expensive Ive found. And for chain just get whatever is cheapest, it all works.

Haha I wasn't sure I mean they know more about it than I do. Thanks for the advice though you guys are great. If I kept the mixture at say 36.1 would that help with having to do less rebuilds?

not really, but you would be safe running it there. Just get cheap little hour meter for it. I say put a new top end in it at 50-60 hours just to get that junk cast piston out of there. The cast ones like to explode if you leave them in there too long. Forged is the only way to go.
