Now that I'm ready to choose new rims and tires, I'm lost. I know virtually ZERO about tires, tire size, rims, etc..... All advice, suggestions, opinions will be greatly appreciated.

A little background: I've been slowly working on revamping this truck. Have taken it down to the chassis for cleaning, rust stripping, rust prevention treatment, and replacing what could use replacing or what I could afford to upgrade. (ie; new HD leaf springs, poly bushings, new shocks, etc.)
In all of that I've also added an ICON AAL on those new HD springs as well as Bilsteins 5100 series shocks and new coil springs.....(blah, blah, blah...).... Anyway, I have NO IDEA how much lift this actually gave the truck.

That said, I've also recently had it painted a completely different color.
This truck is a daily driver that will be used off road only on the weekends that can be grabbed to find a new camping spot.
Mainly, I enjoy road trips when I can get away, so I need to consider the rim size and tires for interstate/highway travel.... (fuel mileage? / comfort?)
This truck currently has the original Toyota 16" rim but I'm thinking of stepping up to a 17" for looks? I'm really quite ignorant in this topic, so I'm reaching out for help.....
    :help:
What are the benefits or drawbacks of a larger rim size? (other than price of rims & tires)
    Will I need spacers? (Spidertrax?)
What width, height, etc. tire should I have on this truck so that it all ties together nicely?
What COLOR rim should I go for with this new paint color that will still look nice in 5 yrs? I don't want something that is going to be a short lived "fad" because I don't foresee affording replacements anytime soon.

I was looking at FUEL rims? They have some nice looking rims but I'm not familiar with rim manufacturers or what makes a good quality rim. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

The color of the truck kind of changes, depending upon the amount of light that hits it. It's a darker grey with metallic ... No blue tint to it, but it does have a more bronze tint to it in the sunlight, as you may be able see... What rims do you think would go well with this color?

Personally, I don't see a huge benefit in going from 16 to 17 inch wheels. It's only going to hit you in the pocketbook as 17 in tires are typically more expensive than 16's. 17's will give you a little less sidewall view and more wheel where 16's would give you more rubber vs. wheel.

Without knowing how much lift you added, it's hard to recommend a tire size to run. Judging by the pics I'm guessing you went full bore 2.5 inches. Stick with a wheel that will give you a back spacing of 4.5". It will give you the ability to run a 285, assuming you have the 2.5" lift. I think you're truck will look great with a 31-33" tire/wheel combo.

I'd say that the new suspension put about a 2.5" lift on it now. I appreciate your opinion and advice on the 16" vs 17" and I think I'm going to take your advice and stick with the 16"... Thank you!

Do you think that particular two tone (Fuel BEAST) will be enough of a contrast?

Backspace is the measurement of the distance from the mounting surface (where the wheel meets the rotor) to the rim of the wheel (towards the inside of the truck).

285 is the metric equivalent to a 11" -ish wide tire.

265 is the metric equivalent to a 10.5" -ish wide tire.

The backspace pushes the wheel out of the fender well (not drastically) enough so the 285 will not rub against your UCA (Upper Control Arm).

The wheel spacers are backspace adjustments so you don't have to purchase new wheels. If you get wheels with the 4.5 offset you should be ok to run 285's.

There are 275 tires but they are limited in options; whether its a 16 or 17 inch wheel.

    I like the Anza personally.

Is there a Fuel distributor close to you that you stop by and compare next to the truck?

Toss up between the D558 and D583...hmmm

I misspoke about the offset. I should have used the term "backspace" (I corrected the thread to reflect that).

Thank you for that correction. :) I'm searching for 4.5" off-set and can't find anything... LOL!! Everything seems to be put in (mm) millimeters... I don't see anything over 25mm ...but then I was looking for off-set...
I'm totally confused... I'm an idiot with this wheel/rim topic... O.M.G.... This is a major learning curve for me... LOL!! NEVER employ me at a tire store! LOL!!!

(*Feeling a little CRAZY right now...Maybe I should take a break and go do a little domestic stuff for a bit...:washing: Give my brain a moment...)

12mm is the offset of a 4.5 backspaced 8 in wheel.

If you go the Fuel route, it looks like they only come in 17"

O.M.G you're right...Looks like the "Fuel BEAST" only comes in a 17" and up..... UGH... :(
However, it looks like the ANZA series D557 and D558 do come in 16"....

That said, I just blazed through the site to see all the others that I like and hit the wall at 17"...
So, this means that all of the SUPER KEWL rims don't come in a 16"... WHY, WHY, WHY IS THIS?

Okay, so now I'm thinking that between the D557 and D558, the D557 (Matte Black w/Anthracite Ring) would look best with the color of this truck?
