I dont know much about tires and rims so please bare with me.
So I want to get new rims, but I want to keep by tires. The rims I want come in either 17x8 or 17x9, but my tire width is about 10" or 265. I was wondering if the rims I want would work on my tires?

I agree on 8".
Check the tire manufacturer's web site; it will have chart with recommended wheel widths.
