Internet forms are auto populated and maybe someone bought a truck and decided they want that truck now after a week or a month so they traded it back in?

Back in 2010 there about I remember seeing lots of dealers having used cars with 400-1000 miles on them. Dealers were giving crazy incentives to get new cars rolling off the lot and given cash for clunkers was a few years before there were still a bunch of used cars missing from the market.

Purchased the wife a 2021 4Runner Off Road a few months ago. Dealership had one on the lot which was described as an "unwind" because the dealership could not secure financing for the previous buyers and they were required to return the vehicle. I think they had it 2 days and put about 150 miles. It was still being sold as "new" because actual ownership never transferred.

This is why I bought my FRS on order. It arrived to the dealer with 5 miles on it. No one else except the people in Japan and the delivery port and dealer drove it. I had them keep on all the plastic film on the paint and wheels. All they did was pre delivery prep like activate the airbags and that was it. I didn’t even want them to wash it or put their dealer stickers or tag frame on it. I will always wait for an ordered vehicle from now on.

They will generally trailer vehicles to keep miles off of them. My truck spent its entire life in CT until I purchased it in MI. Dealerships trade vehicles all the time so it doesn't make much sense to drive them one at a time and add unnecessary mileage

Makes sense, but can they trade vehicles internationally like that? I would think there would be import and warranty issues.

I was looking at a new vehicle on line, with in a few days that vehicle was gone frome the site. There was also newly listed used vehicle, that wasn't there before. With in a few days, the new vehicle was back and the newly listed used vehicle was gone.

There could be any number of reasons to explain what happened. My guess would be the used vehicle was traded for the new vehicle. For what ever reason, the new vehicle was never titled and returned and the owner took their vehicle back.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Just piling on, but yeah, "new" and "used" has nothing to do with mileage and everything to do with title.

I bought a new 2015 Explorer with 10,000 miles on the odometer. The GM's secretary had been using it as a loaner/demo for nearly a full year. Got a hell of an end-of-model year deal on it.

Exactly. We bought my wife’s 2017 4runner “new” in 2017 from the dealer with 2000 miles on it. The owner of the dealership was using it as his DD for a month or 2 and I was able to haggle a $5K discount for the mileage (on a somewhat hard to find Blizzard Pearl Limited 4x4). We are the original owners because we are the first to title it in our names.

The greatest trick of all would be to actually have Tacomas for sale on the lot.
