    anyone installing an aluminum plate, i'd appreciate pics and your take. basically need protection for light wheeling and something that does not weigh a lot.

    oi. great jorb on finishing the al skids with sanding.

    josh does al skids so i wanted to know if anyone else had purchased from him...will ask him if he sands them down like yours. would rather not have a reflector dish.

    OOk.. so we are finally ready to go on these fuel tank plates. I actually installed one yesterday and stupidly forgot to take a picture of it, sooo I will see if I can't get a tacoma in the shop this weekend to get some pics.

    The fuel tank plate is a pretty simple straight forward design, and as of now I expect we will only offer these in a 10ga steel option. The toyota fuel tank straps have relatively short threaded studs that make thicker material (aka 1/4" aluminum) complicated to securely fasten. Also with the fuel tank strap method of attachment I believe that the 10ga offers the best protection without being overkill and adding extra weight. Just an FYI but 10 gauge is between 1/8" and 3/16" in thickness.
