    Lots of sail boat fuel

I mean we could just buy a carbon fiber snorkel and then drill holes in the front side.

.... Then we'd Def get a venturi effect lol

The ARB that was on my old pathfinder had the opening pointing down, the truck ran fine, it looked good and didn't catch on any branches.

I hate to use a plot lifted off the internet vs one of my in-house CFD runs from major automotive manufactures or from our racing teams data sets, but much of our internal data is proprietary and not legally sharable.

For concept, here is a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) run of a Land Rover, which is similarly not the most aerodynamically inclined vehicle, like a Tacoma. Blue contour regions depict low pressure zones and red in the streamlines depict high velocity. Any competent CFD engineer would tell you the absolute worst place possible for an air intake is in a high velocity low pressure zone, like you couldn't pick a worse place according to science than the trailing edge of an A-pillar. Note how flipping the intake side to face the windshield would provide a significant increase in pressure, and would be further increased by the 'wall' created by the snorkel intake rise on the A-pillar. It does look sleek and will work fine for most, but from the engineering perspective it is a poor design for those interested in maximum performance, which obviously may not be the main audience of a snorkel. You can certainly flip a snorkel head backward and it will still work fine, but performance will be reduced, there is a reason they are mounted forward facing. Personally I will not run any products which are fundamentally designed wrong out of principal, because it really bugs me as I look at it and think WTF. But I know most are not so engineering OCD and will be happy with a low profile option.

that is not where snorkels attach on Jeeps. They still travel along the hood to about the I or C in Rubicon. They use that spot for bracing.

Its a really good idea, I just wish there was a way for the tacoma to do it. I think so many more people would buy a snorkel if they didnt have to look like a instagram overlander while going to target to pick up a copy of Animal crossing for the kids nintendo

Lame, why aren't these companies running under the fender like the Jeep and AEV snorkels...

Are there any snorkels that pull air from the passenger compartment? Its usually dry inside, it's not dusty, and if you can breath the air the engine should be able to breathe too.

you would hear it, loud. All the time. That would be annoying. Plus, where would the air come in from

The only way it could be done is to make a flange on the fender. It would be a hole cut, that has a tub that fits in and bolts down. That tub would connect to the intake. There would be 2 different caps that bolt to the outside of that tub. One would be a mesh cover that keeps big things from getting sucked in, the other would be the actual snorkel. The big issue I see with my design is that when you have the screen cover on, water would drain down the fender and into the intake, so there would need to be a drain plug in the bottom of the tub that you would have to open every once in awhile. But putting a shroud would prevent the majority of water from getting in.

I have the whole design in my head, just dont have a way to make it.
