    Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy new speakers for my dad's 2002 extended cab Taco. Since it's for his birthday I have to research secretly, but i haven't the slightest idea on what to look for. I want good quality speakers that are decently priced. Hoping to find something within the $200 range. Any links or info you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ;)

You're gonna want a set of coaxial speakers, so that's a place to start.

People seem to have good luck with the alpine brand.

I really like the Alpine Type-R's but you need to power them with an Amp.. Alpine is just a good product all around.

Didn't know that, if you're getting an amp might as well go with components but that will be out of price range.

Phoenix golds are my fav, but alpine does also make a nice speaker for the money. Boston have always done me right as well.

Thanks for all the info so far guys. Alpine does seem like the way to go, lots of good reviews and the price is right. Would you be able to tell me the size and dimensions i would need for the 02 extended cab?

go to crutchfield.com and it will let you outfit your car. I usually just end up buying it there too cause they ship quick and include everything you need for a really aggressive price

5x7's all the way around in the 02 extended cab. Alpine is not terrible I prefer Hertz stuff but they don't make a good sounding entry level 5x7 :/ their deici line is great but you would have to do a 6.5 and building brackets add an extra 30 min or so but the sound difference is worth it for sure, otherwise Alpine is not terrible I would do a type S 5x7 it would save you some time on the install and the price point is pretty decent for the sq associated with them (not the greatest sounding speaker that Alpine or others make by it is most certainly not the worst it is a good speaker for the money)
