I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
@Mr Marv Marv, specifically told me not to go crazy with sound proofing the back wall (only deaden the inner ribs of the back panel) and told me not to carpet the back of the box. Those 2 things can add up

He told me the same thing. I stopped saying anything because most people were not believing me so I just let them do what they wanted to do

Glad I saw this 'cause I was about to begin the installation of sound proofing on the back wall. I wasn't going to go too crazy 'cause I did not want to add extra thickness, but I wanted something on the back wall.

And why would anyone carpet the back of a box that will never get seen. I intend to only do the front & sides

I'm cutting the carpet on mine tonight. New at the whole audio scene so, and as worn anything, there is a learning curve.

Do you keep the carpet over the corner of the back? Or just right to the edge? I don't want it to start peeling back.

Let the fun begin - my equipment is beginning to arrive. I talked with Mr Marv and before I go down the route of purchasing his box I am going to take a stab at it and see if I can build one. I have shop tools, but lack skill set to make something like this, but f it I am going to try.

Me personally would wrap it over maybe an inch or something so that way you wouldn't have to cut it flush the edges of the box, but that is just me

Mine is not peeling back at all and I do not have any overlap around the back at all. I would say to not have any at all on the back surface

Make sure to use a lot of glue on the edges right?

I didn't put any more on the edges than anywhere else but if that makes you feel more comfortable then go for it.

Starting to think i should just pull all the carpet and paint the fcuker. Linex would be cool but I'm not gonna go spend 200 bux for it. Next build will be paint, or fun fur.

Here's what i came up with four securing the amp board. Used one of the blank holes in the sheet metal and a rubber expansion nut. A black powdercoated bracket from another project and bolt/tee-nut for the board-side. Once i screw the board to the sub box, this'll be pretty solid.

I also gained good clearence behind the seat for the sub by removing the carpet from the back side of the box and from under the mounting ring. Unfortunately, the seat-back plastic will not be able to go back on since it still rubs when down. If i can't have it down, might as well just leave it off.

Learn to love the Posi-tap! Have been using these for years on the Taco, 4Runner and moto. These ones are a speaker-specific version i didn't know existed until i started this project.

I must have misunderstood when we talked the other day. Are you trying to gain clearance so you can play the sub with the seat down?

I'm so confused with this as well @Mr Marv . Why would having your seat up or down make or break your system?

I want to be able to play the sub with the seat up or down. Removing the seat-back plastic and shimming the mounting bolts will help with clearance when the seat is up. I think the only way to gain clearance for when the seat is down is move the seat-back up (vertically) on it's mounting points or to move the bracket (bolted to the floor) forward towards the engine. At least that sounds right in my head.

But why do you want to have the seat down so bad?

You didn't mention you were trying to play the sub with the seat down so I was under the impression you had clearance issues when the seatback was up which is why I offered the spacer suggestion! In any case if you had mentioned that I would have let you know that the seatback pivot point is a couple of inches from the bottom of the seat so the bottom moves rearward when folded down which as noted the spacers won't help with.
BTW, why do you want the seat down when playing the sub?

I do use the space with the seat down and I hate to lose it, but seems there is no way to accommodate without serious modification. I'm okay with losing the functionality. Besides, if i really need it, i can just unplug the sub to avoid risk of damagewhen it is down.
