Hi guys, I apologize in advance if this is already here somewhere, i did a search and looked through some threads, but can't seem to find a clear answer.

I pick up my new SR Access Cab, 2.7L Manual, 4x4 on Friday. I'm going to be replacing the steelies with some new wheels and tires pretty quickly.

My question is, in your opinion, what is the largest 16" tire I can upgrade to without throwing off the speedometer that much, not affecting MPG's (or performance) that much, and not cause any rubbing. I was thinking to go from the 245 75 16 to the 265 70 16 (I believe this is the stock size on the TRD Off Roads) Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, and I will of course post pictures when i pick her up. So excited.

Welcome to Tacomaworld. Try the link below for the speedo issue. The biggest tire you can fit without a lift is generally a 265/75/16. Best of luck.

thanks for that, definitely helps. do you think there will be any rubbing (usually lift wouldn't impact this as its width) with the 265 75 16?

    Congrats!

If you live in the mountains, you'll feel it just switching to a more aggressive tire in the stock size. That being said I ran 265/75r16's and it wasn't too bad but cost me 2mpg. I also ran 35's with stock gears for 4 months and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, 35's cost me about 4mpg. Now, with 35's and 4.88's I "can" get 19mpg, but that's cruising at 65. Cruising at 80 (3,000rpm) I'll get 17mpg.

On flat ground you should be fine.

And cause everyone loves SR pics...

just leave the stock tires on. If you don't want to sacrifice a wee bit of mileage.

Even if you just go up to 265 75 16... (And you sure can!)You will notice a drop in milage. Not a huge drop. But a decrease nonetheless.
