my best friend owns YImI sport (One of the most respected subaru guys around), and if Subarus were such junk - he wouldn’t be so rich :D

sure your vw will be fine. You are moving up with that motor in that Thing

Subaru Eyesight probably isn't much fun off road. My car will give an alert when backing into a shallow drive way apron, and slams on the brakes if it's wet out.

Last night I had a dream with me driving on the freeway behind a Subaru Outback with a snowmobile on its roof. Yikes was that a bad nightmare.

I'm hearing that a lot, supposedly the engine builder uses the stronger, STI/Turbo gaskets which are supposed to be over-kill for a non-turbo engine. Time will tell though!

I used to love subaru so much , and after all the problems including the FA motor in my 16 Wrx, that has me scarred for life

during orgasm I used to yell out

    -ringlands
    -head gaskets
    -wheel bearings

    Not recommended. :)

I went from a 2001 Tacoma TRD OR to a 2018 Subaru Outback. (Clearly I drive my cars for a long time.)
It never felt right, so last year I traded my 2018 Outback for a 2020 Tacoma. Instant (and continued) happiness.

Looking forward to another 15+ years with the Tacoma.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)

Geezus man seriously? Does the Subaru have a fucking bed?
Can the Subaru pull 6800 lb trailer?
Does the Subaru have low range?
Let's just go ahead and compare the Tacoma to a Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
I guess your idea of apples and apples are having four wheels. Wow.

Seriously man? You really think I was comparing a Outback to a Tacoma? I guess I need to spell it out a little better for you. If you read what I wrote, the only thing I was talking about and comparing was the roof racks on both vehicles. Was just wondering how Subaru can engineer a rack for their car that can hold 700lbs but Toyota can only come up with a rack that holds 100lbs. That’s the whole point of my thread. I was certainly not comparing a Outback to a Tacoma. And I don’t expect Toyota to put a 700lb rated roof rack on the Tacoma but I’m pretty sure they could come up with something that could hold at least 300 pounds or so which would make it a lot more useful for hauling stuff a typical truck owner would want to use it for.

I would suspect it also has to do with the Subaru being a unibody and the Tacoma being a body-on-frame.
Hence the Subaru body structure is built to be more "load bearing" (or whatever) than the Tacoma's body, which has a separate frame to handle the load of the suspension and drivetrain.

The Tacoma's body is just a body. The Subaru's body is both the body and chassis.

Yep. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Maybe the lower center of gravity in that car will let you get away with it or a wider stance vehicle. But, I wouldn't want that much weight up top on trails or high winds. Our trucks have higher clearance and narrow stance. Not a good recipe for balancing rock.

Need bath tub traction strips all over the vehicle so the person can climb or roll and flip up into the basket

That and missing a C pillar, D pillar, higher center of gravity, etc. Just not a good idea.

We seem to get a lot of Subaru drivers in here after the 3rd gen was released, 2 totally different vehicles, and yet still people want the same things from the Tacoma. One is a car, one is a truck, can't get to the point any more then that.

What problems did you have? I traded my 16 WRX last month and never had any issues with it, except the stock battery dying after 2 years.

My outback stock battery died the first year I had it too (I bought it new). Had to buy a bigger one the first winter I owned it.
