You would need to find something around 600watts @ 2ohms . Or something that produces around the watts rms of your subs. should be fine with that amp says it does 500rms @2ohms .always go by the watts rms of an amp not the max watts.

Yeah that's why I was thinking it would be just enough, no overload or anything, kind of thinking going one size bigger at about 800w @2 ohms

CEA 2006 is the current standard, but compliance is voluntary. Sometimes you can find independent tests of the amps you're considering. Yeah, you can totally use an amp rated for more than the driver's RMS rating, but you may void your warranty and should be mindful of that when setting gains.

Oh yea...ooops. He's right, hook it up in ||and that amp will toss like 600 watts rms at it at 14.4 volts.

So the consensus is the Rockford and not the one I had originally posted because it is too weak? I'm definitely a noob when it comes to this stuff

Ask 5 guys you'll get 5 opinions. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. That Rockford Amp I posted is the way I would go for your setup. Hopefully more people will chime in soon.

I'm running one of those subs in my truck and it's powered by the 5th channel of an Arc Audio XDI805, which is 240W at 4 Ohms. It sounds awesome.

The Pioneer would work, but in that range I'd go with the Alpine MRV-M500. I'm using something similar - the MRX-M55. It's underrated by about 6%, stays cool to the touch no matter how hard I pound on it, and sounds great doing it.

    See - ask 5 different guys... ;)

Robs right its all on personal preference and also the budget.i only stick with Rockford fosgate for amps .they are nice amps they do above rated and the new amps are tiny, but they are pricey.this is a 500x1 image.jpg

Cool to the touch, or cool enough to keep your hand on it? Mine's definitely warm, but not hot.

Cool to the touch. Warmer than ambient, but still hard to call it warm. I've used 2 different Alpine PDX F4s that got HOT! Like you couldn't hold your hand to them. But the less expensive MRX will play all day without breaking a sweat. Go figure.

About to buy the setup then y'all! Going with the 750w as was advised.
Next question, was thinking of getting an Amp for my aftermarket Headunit and front door speakers, the RFosgate Prime 150w 2 channel going to be enough for that? I haven't upgraded my rear door speakers...

It's only 750W if you give it a 1 ohm load. You can't do that with those 2 subs. It's on the spendy side for what you need too IMHO. Quite a few amps out there will do the job just as well at half the price.

What speakers are you using up front?

Could you give me like 2 choices then as to what you recommend for the subs? And up front I have 2 Kicker 6x9 component speakers and tweeters

Also, that alpine you linked is only 500w peak? That seems underpowered for real for two subs with 350-500w rms a piece, or am I missing something here

Sure, Amazon sells that Alpine I mentioned above for $135.
JBL MS-A5001 for a bit more.

    You're missing something.

    RMS power:
    • 4 ohms: 300 watts x 1 chan.
    • 2 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan
Those subs are rated for 300W each and don't seem like they'd tolerate much more. 250 each is plenty. Remember, doubling the power gets you a 3dB gain. In this case it's 1/6 less than rated power which translates to a difference of 1/2 dB.
