X2...........Just about every vehicle I've had they updated shortly after. Of corse I knew it would be coming soon on these trucks since they have had this body style for several years now. I was afraid of the new style if it is supposed to mirror the new 4-Runner, I dont care for the look of them.

I dont see a V-8 coming with gas prices continuing to climb and since so many new vehicles are coming out with these new V-6's that get good mpg's. Look at the new Jeep GC and the new F-150 w/v6. 290/300 hp and 20+ mpg. (or at least they claim) I look for a V-6 upgrade for more hp and mpg. I know if they can get that kind of mpg out of them that the Tacoma can do better. With this kind of thought, that made me want to wait on my Tacoma. Just didn't want to wait that long.

You don't hear about new models till the end of the model year (other than spy photos and such) doesn't pay to have people waiting to get the next model leaving the old ones on lots, or in the case of a sucky remodel, have everyone buy up the old model and leave the new one with a bad year.

The redesigned Taco will be here in 2013. It will be small like the original truck, and will have an available 4 cyl. turbodiesel or turbodiesel/hybrid/plug-in option, and will also be available with hydrogen fuelcell technology. It will have a symmetrical all-wheel-drive drivetrain like the Subaru, and will be unibody like the Honda Ridgeline.

    Trust me! :D

Most likely 2012. The last change for the Tacoma was in 2005, and the for 4Runner was in 2003. The 4runner did get the 4.0l v6 first. Seems like it may follow the same cycle.

As far as the Tacoma getting a V8, i doubt it. I traded my 2008 Tacoma in for Tundra 4x4 5.7l, and on the highway they are close, bout 17ish. The city, well its about 12-13, with my new tires. I don't mind as I don't drive it everyday anymore. Imagine if they came with the 4.6 which replaced the 4.7. It would be fast, but people will complain about the MPG's

I like the size of the Tacoma's personally. I know the hardcore off roaders like the smaller 1st generations, but to me they are too small and I just traded from a Dodge Ram quad cab, I loved my Ram but it was big. If I had to trade down to the first generation sized truck, probably wouldn't have even considered trading. I looked at the Frontier's also but they were a little smaller and didn't even get better mpg's than the Ram and that was with the Hemi. Bottom line is for me I wanted something a little smaller and with better mpg's. The 2nd generation Tacoma was the only choice.
