    Desert and really anything below 5,000ft and more than 5 miles inland is gonna be HOT, anything near the coast is gonna be super crowded.

    If it were me I'd hit up the mountains, big bear can be good, but my favorite summer spot is Toro Peak in the Santa Rosa mountain range.

    There's plenty of breakoff trails so its pretty easy to find a more secluded spot to yourself, plenty of shade/tree coverage, and you camp at about 7,000ft so even in mid-summer its usually in the 70s so not too hot. Plus great views of the desert valley below. Its also a great spot for winter, whens theres some snow it makes the trail more challenging and fun :)

    In summer its basically a slightly rutted fireroad although some of the breakoff trails can be fun to mess around on. Here's some pics from my usually spot up there, last one is a winter shot

    :eek::eek::eek: Amazing !
    Thanks for the heads up. Got a big bear trip planned in December. I heard it pretty packed in the summer time though. That area you were at in those pics is beautiful.

    PMd you coordinates to my "secret spots", only caveat is if I pull up there one day and you're staked out you gotta give me priority :D

    Question: I’m so used to having Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, where the hell do you go in SoCal to get outdoors equipment?!? Lol

    Yeah, not many outdoor shops around. You have to look for multiple companies like Bass Pro Shop, REI, and even Dick's sporting goods has some good selection of things.

    Turners Outdoorsmen, there’s a few in the San Diego area. Bass Pro is about 1.5hr drive North up the 15fwy. Welcome to SoCal.

    Okay. I’ll give Dicks a shot.

    I’ll check out turners, got one about 5 miles from me. Appreciate it.

    Welcome to SoCal sir! I've been Off-Roading / Camping here almost all my life. Usually I know somebody that knows somebody. Not too many degrees of separation when it comes comes to the off roading community & what not. Any questions please feel free to reach out. From trails to equipment. Don't hesitate

    Thanks! I’ll be in touch for sure, always looking for new places to camp at. Probably going to find a spot during this week sometime. I’ll have a few days off of work.

    Online is the best, turners and REI will have high prices. There's a bass pro shop in Rancho cucamonga as mentioned (about an hour north on the 15)

    Nicer just to walk around the store. A lot easier for me to find stuff lol. Might make the trip up there this week sometime since I got some days off.
