I'm new to Tacomas, not Toyotas. I bought my first new Toyota pickup in 1976 in Ok City. I owned it 10 years before trading it for a El Camino.(my bad)
I currently own 2 1988 Toyota pickups , 1 Base 22R 4 spd and 1 SR5 4x4 22RE auto. The 2wd Base has 191K and the 4x4 has 326k has been a daily driver up to the purchase of my Certified 2012 Tacoma Double Cab last month with 12k miles. This 2012 TRD Off-Road is a dream machine after many years of driving the older "hilux" standards. (Like jumping from a Corolla to a Lexus)
My wife has been driving a 2004 4Runner 4x4 Limited V8 for 7 years. I believe she just turned over 130K miles. Other than a slightly worn driver's leather seat and the NAV badly needing an upgrade, it has been flawless. I found my 2012 with the Display Audio JBL and Entune Nav option. What a kick! The only complaint is no CAR information is available in this Tacoma Entune Display Audio system. But Wow, The 4.0L is certainly a change from the 22r work horses I'm accustomed to. Glad to be here!
