Last week I test drove a 2010 TRD Sport and the sales guy said there isnt much difference between the TRD sport and the SR5. So I said i would go with the SR5 and they had to go pick one up at another dealership because they didnt have one in stock. I was looking on this site and realized how much more you get with a TRD sport. I'm supposed to pick up the truck tonight but my question is, would it be wrong if i wanted the TRD sport now instead? I didnt sign anything yet its all just verbal. Is this ok or is this an jerk move?

What are you going to be using the truck for? You wouldn't be a jerk. It's the dealers fault the salesman told you there isn't much difference between the two..

I'm using it for a daily driver and hauling my 4wheeler around and yard work.

Yea i know but i still feel bad about doing this but maybe i shouldnt. The dealer probably wouldnt blink an eye to screw me.

Would they still wanna deal with me though since i already had them drive to pick up another truck and dont want it now? Maybe i'm just overthinking this...

Look at it this way, do you want do drive and pay for a truck youll have for years that your not 100% happy with, or would you rather change your mind now and suffer some awkwardness for what you really want? Its not like your starting a long term relationship with your salesman you know, youll prolly never see them again after its all said and done either.

In other words, would you prefer a week of weirdness or years of regret?

Btw I went with the TRD sport for mine, and I highly reccomend it!

don't worry, they'll sell the truck they brought up for you. If they didn't think they could sell it, then they would have asked for $500 down on the truck to "hold" it.

It's probably too late to matter, but ^^^ is 100% correct. You need to be out for #1, and that's you. You can't be thinking about his/her feelings. It's ALL business. Besides, the TRD Sport will cost you more money, which means the dealer will most likely make more >>> WIN WIN!!!

Now go tell them to get you what you want, enjoy, and post some pics. ;)

    OP...

DO NOT sweat it. Dealers trade and buy vehicles from each other all the time.

If you don't take the SR5...it's just another piece of inventory to them.

The dealer gets more money from you with the TRD Sport. The dealer gets to unload an "aging" vehicle from inventory. They shouldn't complain.

BTW, what functional extras do you get with TRD Sport over the SR5? I count bed power outlet, sport seats, and Bilstein shocks. The rest seem to be appearance items.

Fake hood scoop, which is sooo important to those who like the Sport.

The big difference is between the Sport or SR5 and the Off Road!

No fake hood scoop, but heck the 2WD Off Road (PreRunner) has a locking rear differential, and a 4WD Off Road Taco has A-TRAC.

Love my fake hoodscoop. I really like the look. I also like the comfy seats, coloured bumpers and door handles, and the rims.

Don't settle OP on such an expensive purchase. Get what you want

Well just an update. I think I was just getting greedy yesterday..once i saw the truck I loved the SR5. Ya the TRD sport would of been nice but not a big deal in the long run. I'm planning on getting new rims/tires and new grill anyways so very happy with the truck and excited to get modding!!

    Thanks everyone.

yeah, forget how the dealer feels. You're just another sale and when your done with them they won't even thing twice about you. So, just tell them you changed your mind and want the TRD now.

The dealer told me that same thing when I bought my SR5, they even make fun of the TRD package and called it 'the $3,500 sticker'. Looking back, I wish I had given a little more consideration to the TRD package but probably wouldn't end up using most of the features it came with anyways.

    Congrats on the new truck!

i'm surprised the dealer didn't try to sell you the sport, it's like a 3500 package option. As far as i know the only changes are visual with the sport. Hood scoop, color matched grille, color matched mirrors and door handles, it's a lot of money for not much else. Get the off road, then you have a rear locker!

Anyways, it's your money get what you want or you'll probably regret it

Just tell the dealer the chrome from the SR5 was blinding you to the fact that the Sport model had more options that you really, really, need. If that don't work tell em you are willing to pay more money...
