I feel for you man...that sucks big time. I just got my new truck about 2 weeks ago. Where were you parked if you don't mind me asking. I always park in the back 40 too, but that doens't mean I won't get hit...just lowers the risk of getting car door dings at best. Hope everything works out for ya...

had the same thing happen to me. not the damage like you had. was at local shopping center and when i came back, i noticed a nice ding in my tailgate. looks like a shopping cart got me. its at the shop now getting a facelift. a month ago i was going thur a downtown area and a guy backs up into me. smashes the front bumper and takes out a driving fog light, not having much luck with my new truck.

If you don't mind me asking, how much $$$$ was the damage?

if that question was for me, the front bumper and driving light was 600.00 and the dent is going to be 100.00

That question was to both of you! At least with the dent being that low, that means the damage was more to the bumper, which I would prefer because the bumper and light are replaceable. Whereas the body had to be repaired.

On my truck the side of the box is getting replaced. The cost to the insurance company is 7600 the metal under the bed is bent too and that shifted the whole box

For the bad luck: my friend told me to put a bottle of champagne in a pillow case or bag and break it on the driver front tire. I'm not sure how reliable he is tho! Haha

Oh wow. Your damage is a lot worse than mine even though it looked the same. I didn't have the whole side replaced.

It really depends on who is doing the work, and what they're doing to fix it. Pics of OP's truck, to me, show that a good body mechanic could certainly repair them. The skill of some body mechanics is truly AMAZING.

But when you're dealing with part swapping, then you're money is going into factory part markups rather than the actual body work. When the mechanic is lazy and the insurance budget is unlimited, this is typically the route taken.
