Currently running around in an 2001 extra cab. Going to be adding to the family so I need some more doors. (I’m going to be keeping the 2001) I haven’t had much experience with the 2nd or 3rd gens. Is there a year that stands out as better than theothers? Anything to consider?

The 2020 is probably the best Tacoma ever. The 3rd gen was an improvement on the 2nd gen and the 2020 took the little trouble spots of the 2016 and 2017 and fixed it, plus added some creature comforts.

I was very close to your situation, my ride was a 2002 Tundra with a cassette player.
The Tacoma has so many features that really improve the drive and aren’t useless gimmicks.
Start with the keyless entry, i start the engine and butt warmers, mirror defrost and the phone auto starts blu toothing playlists. The auto high beams are another feature I didn’t think I needed but man its great. The radar cruise control makes using it effortless.
Don’t get me started with the MTM cams either, I could go on and on. These really are great trucks.
