It had to be something heavy and sharp to make such a scratch. Wonder who did it Factory or Dealer Detailer. No matter still not right. Hope it gets fixed at your satisfaction. Good luck

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
Wait until you see that the bed is misaligned, the hood is manufactured incorrectly at the passenger front corner, and that it squats funny unloaded.

Cover it with a decal like this one: https://usrallystripesshop.com/prod...pre-cut-vinyl-sticker-2016-2020-toyota-tacoma

Last I heard those decals add 5 hp.

That is the reason I have the stripes on my grille - I had some electrical contact cleaner overspray discolor the finish on one spot. :cookiemonster:

I always thought the most interesting views of the Tacoma are what is beyond the hood. Keeps you out of ditches and keeps you from running into other cars ... and some people find those insignificant mountain views ever so slightly interesting as well.

I would just fix it myself instead of having someone at the dealer do it. My concern would be much more serious than theirs.

Or the A/C evaporator box leaking water onto the floor.

Fear not! In a few months we'll have a whole batch of new complaints, since 4th gen is a clean-sheet design.

My take: have them replace the entire part! Don't let them try to repair it. Repairs will always come back to bite you one day and the repair site will be visible. It is a very obvious spot and exposed to the sun. It will be trouble a few years from now. You purchased a brand-new vehicle, so it should be as perfect as it can be - as you say.
They don't want to do that? Then return the vehicle! Yes, for a scratch!

Mine came factory with a nice scratch on the hood where it slants down toward the windshield. Didnt notice until after I signed to accept as is cause it was parked in the shade. In a spot where only the driver can see it so not a big deal

There is a flaw I want the dealer to look at ... top control panel (locker, MTS, etc) moves and squeaks high pitched on any slightly rough road. It is annoying because it demands attention ... I image a carjacker in the vehicle would make it irrelevant. Unlike a scratch in the dash which you must divert your eyes to intentionally.

Re: dash scratch. Let them fix it. If it's not absolutely perfect, accept goodies from dealer as compensation. IE, extended warranty, bed mat, tonneau, etc, whatever you can negotiate. Then put a decal on it as suggested above and get on with life.

You're out to lunch. Have you ever pulled a dash out of a modern car? It will never go back together the same. Get them to give you a free bed mat or something but pulling the dash for that wee scratch? Insanity.

Leave as is. Life is too short. It gives character and now you have a nice ice breaker story when someone new rides with you.
Your truck will not remain perfect no matter how hard you try.
