Honestly the Tundra was never even on the radar. My wife really hates how they look and the Tacoma is her daily.

We wanted something smaller to do light off roading in as well but im just going to buy a new truck and pick up a 70 series LC for fun.

Damn, the original thread post is disappointing, to say the least!

I was thinking of of a 2019 SR5 purchase in the next few days.

Transmission problems are a concern to me:spending:

It's got a 3.5 V6, but thanks for your quality input and personal responsibility rant. It was enlightening.

    Have a blessed day.

I saw that you’re leaving a RAV4.... this truck won’t be a problem for you unless you decide to start towing heavy through the mountains like some do. Use it like a small truck is meant to be used, and you’ll be fine. If you’re not completely happy with how it drives you can just get OVTune :)

Man, it's a fine truck, don't let my thoughts discourage you too badly. My only advise is to take the truck on a THOROUGH test drive. The fact that I did not squarely lies on me. Test drive the competition and go with what works best for you. The Tacoma, all things considered, is still the best truck in the class in my opinion, but the Ranger is a close second in my book.

    Good luck in your search.

Lol 5 miles is probably about the distance to the boat launch for me. Sounds like this truck definitely isn't for you with a big dog and the car seat.

There are no transmission problems. Just some don't like how it drives. Test drive one before you say no to the truck. If you like shifting gears yourself get a manual transmission.

That explains the price difference. The conversion on the parts heading north is a killer. Took me quite a while to convince my wife that $3500 to regear a brand new truck was/is worth it, but bribery, using it only for good, never for evil, works like a charm. OK, OK, maybe sometimes a little for evil, but only a little.... don't tell her!
