New Tacoma isn't smooth slowing down, or when hitting brakes

Just picked up my 2021 TRD Sport 4x4 this Friday with 14 miles on it.

When I drove it right out the lot, I noticed when slowing down with or without the brakes, there's a small stutter, even a vibrating feeling in the steering wheel.

I drove it right back to the dealership and the sales rep said not sure what he could do other than set up an appointment with their service department. So I went on their website and set up an appointment for this Tuesday.

Anyone have an idea of what this could be?

It’s probably just the truck down shifting . I think it started with the 3rd gens. I don’t remember my 2nd gen doing it. This trans are programmed to slow the truck down when you let go of the gas.

FWIW, my 2nd Gen will downshift around 30 mph when slowing/coasting and foot off the throttle.

It is noticeable, but not annoying. Its just part of the truck's personality.

    It's a truck not a car.

I vaguely remember mine doing something similar a few times when I first bought it. Whatever it was it went away after a few hundred miles. Hasn’t happened since 7000 miles later. I figure just break in.

Two things... the Tacoma utilizes engine braking (google it) and
It takes around one thousand miles before your brakes "bed" which can also be googled.
    Your fine.

3rd Gens have some issues. Check out the you tube video from the car care nut. The guy is a master Toyota tech. He has a video on the common 2016-2021 Tacoma problems. I will stick with my 2015 V6 for now.

Just traded my 2019 ford ranger for a 2021 tacoma, try the brakes on a ranger, that is high anxiety hoping you stop the first few times

Sounds the same as my 2020 sr5, but i didn't feel it through the steering wheel. At 1,500 miles it was totally gone. A buddies 2019 trd has the same issue to but very minor, plus its got another vibration that comes and goes at various speeds. He's complained to the dealer he got the truck from...they told him its fairly normal to that model. Its always been the same and hasn't gotten worse.
On your truck try putting the transmission in neutral when it happens...when i did the stutter disappeared.

I have a 2021 OR. with 300 miles on it, yes the truck does downshift shortly after I let off the gas. The 2016 Sport 4x4 I traded in did the same. Check the tire pressure. When I got mine from the dealer the tires were at 43psi , it picked up all bad spots in road and sent vibrations into chassis . Lowered air when I got home. Rides great now.

Ok new rotors new pads new truck.
I have no idea why people try to freak out new owners.

Have you ever studied on bedding brakes?
Basically there must be a smooth thin layer of brake pad material applied to the rotors and drums. This can happen slowly over time, or intentionally very quickly IF you follow instructions. If you are interested in learning more, private message me or mention me and I will link you to the information if you can't find it yourself.

There is no reason to worry yet.

TLDR Rotors rust, rotors and pads have to be bedded together.
