Put in my order for a 2017 TRD Sport 4WD DCLB. First time buying a brand new vehicle and after much haggling with the "stealership" I think I've got what I want. I won't know for sure until I receive the truck in about 4 weeks. Looking forward to interacting with you all and asking for thoughts on future mods.

I have to say the whole car buying experience is absolutely a pain. Salesman always trying to sell you on what you don't want or need. I literally had to go back and forth several times with the order sheet to make sure they got what I wanted and didn't add or remove something. You'd think they would like customers like me. Didn't waste their time, showed up with my money, knew exactly what I wanted, and didn't mind waiting for it. Good thing these trucks last forever because I am NOT looking forward to that process again.

Yes, some salesmen will do that. First time they try I tell them to stop. Second time they try, I get up and walk to the sales manager's podium and tell him I want a no-bullshit salesman or I'm gone. Or I avoid all that to begin with by mass-emailing for quotes once I've figured out what I want.

Congrats on the truck. Welcome to TW. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but do try to search for answers first. It does help to have a thick skin, not everyone here behaves like Fred Rogers. Also when you read of various issues, remember that you find more sick people at the hospital than in everyday life.

I had two totally different experiences with two dealers. One seemed totally ignore what I asked for (no tonneau cover, comes back with three build sheets with tonneau covers...."no tonneau cover"....does it again). I walked.

The other, he was experienced, he could tell I know I had done my research, new exactly what I wanted, and said, "I can order you that." and never once pushed another on the lot truck on me. Once I had him down to a good number, I made the deal. You just have to find these guys. Still waiting though!

    Congrats on your truck!

    Congratulations on the new truck.

I emailed dealers and did not walk into one till I got the price that I wanted.

Welcome and hope you will post some photos of the new ride when you get it. A lot of good info on this site - a lot better here than what you hear from the dealer!

Welcome! I'm with you on the dealer stuff, this is my first new vehicle too, and I did lots of research, knew exactly what I wanted and went ready to battle. Got a great sales guy who hated his job, so he wasn't pushy on me one bit, in fact he was extremely helpful. Had some hard negotiating with the sales manager, finally he saw the light and gave me what I wanted, lol. Afterwards I realized I actually kinda enjoyed negotiating! This site is very informative, sarcastic and funny, so sit back and enjoy the banter. Hope your truck arrives soon, and look forward to pics!

I got lucky with my dealer. I went to several and walked out quickly when i didn't feel right. The guy I went with made it feel like I was buying from a friend. Told him what I wanted and he made it happen with no bs. He even gave me the lowest price right up front after I told him I don't want to play the negotiating game. I got a fully loaded 2017 for 35,800-trd sport 4x4 manual, dbl cab, premium tech package, tow, mud flaps, and oval step tubes. I guess i got lucky cause I loved my experience!! I also found this site recently and you'll find it's full of helpful people. You'll also find more ways to drain your bank account.

Love those LED lights... I'll have to post some before & after pictures at some point. Put nerf bars on it (after much debate about trying to find sliders and settling on the fact that I probably won't do enough serious off roading for it to matter), plasticolor mud flaps, black inserts on the Tacoma lettering on the tailgate.

Congrats on the new truck. I've got the easiest ever salesman when I bought my '17. If anyone is in DFW and wants his info, lmk. He is very easy to deal with, and won't try to pull any garbage.
