Just purchased a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 double cab after getting rid of my 2004 6.0 diesel.
So far great truck after driving for a week and impressed by the get up a go power.

Best truck I ever owned. Just too much worry about the motor after several costly repairs.

Did you have head gasket problems? My motor was great. I ran that thing off of pure grease and never had a problem. I was running the vegistroke kit.

I had every problem.... EGR Valve x 2, oil cooler x1, oil in coolant x 2 and several other problems. To this day I believe they where all band aid fixes to a small head gasket problem that Ford wouldn't fix. Right before I got rid of it after a month of fighting with Ford and the dealership it had no low end power and oil in coolant again! 16,000 mile and 13 months from the last oil cooler and EGR replacement. My wife and I sold our camper a few years ago. I have a friend who just fixed his 6.0, with the same problems as mine and is cost him 9000.00 out of pocket. Screw that!!!! I'd rather pay on a truck for 4 years then throw that money away on a six year old truck only worth half that. This was a problem that you couldn't band aid fix. You needed to do the EGR delete, new head bolts, gaskets, new or machined heads, coolant filter, ect. So $10,000.00 dollars was a good guess to fix properly with the mods. Ford has a lot to gain with their new motor. I'd hate to buy the first year on that motor being out!!!
I tell hated to get rid of it and still kinda miss it, but the Tacoma is growing on me. Just waiting for a big snow. That diesel would go anywhere you put and push through snow drifts like they wheren't there.

I agree $10,000 is too much. Man Ford really let you down there. I know two other people with the same motor and both have had the similar problems with the coolant. Ford repaired their trucks under the 100,000 mile warranty. At least that is what they said. I have an '06 tacoma now with 9" total lift and 35's. I can't believe how much power it has though. Turns the tires like they are nothing.

Yeah $10,000 is half of what the truck was worth. I only had 74,000 miles on it. My wife never like driving it cause it was to big and the kids had to sit up straight in the back. With the double cab Tacoma they are comfortable riding.
I was looking for better gas mileage too. I think the first tank I got almost 16 MPG that is a long way of the sticker. I pull a mountain everyday with the air on maybe that has something to do with it. Still beats the 14 MPG at $3.00 a gallon for diesel.
