New tacoma owner

Hello,

I am new to the forum and I just picked up my first tacoma. Its an 08 regular cab, 2.7, 4x4 manual.

I was wondering what mods you all would recommend. I am going to be using it as a daily driver and to go camping/dirt biking on the weekends. I wont be doing any heavy four wheeling but I will be on fire roads and some rutted areas.

I am mainly looking for more power and better fuel economy.

Any info would be very helpful.

Traditional power enhancing mods increase the inflow of fuel and air (ie new manifold and carb) and the outflow of the exhaust (new headers). Toyota has the inflow well covered with their fuel injection system and their stock exhaust system is so well designed that adding headers and a new exhaust system do not return any extra power until the revs are really high. Unless you are going to do a full-blown build up of the engine (ie boring, polishing, balancing) you are not going to get much increase.

most mods out there pretty much wreck your gas mileage (lift, tires, etc)

If you need a solid daily driver, go with an interior sound system or a head unit. If mileage is important to you, I dont see you spending thousands upon thousands on light racks, skid plates, roof rails, lift, locker, off road tires and a satoshi grill
