    Hello everyone,
I just bought my very first Tacoma and wanted some advice on some common and/or cost effective modifications.
I bought this 2023 TRD Off Road from a Copart auction so it has a little damage I'll have to take care of.

First thing though is to get rid of those ugly 20" wheels.

What opinions do you have about running boards, tonneau cover, Pro grille, etc.?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Nice looking machine! It needs a stainless exhaust tip, asap.IMG_7015.jpg Finally after 14 years, my first one disappeared and this is the replacement.

Is it tuned? If not, that'd probably be the first thing I'd do. And, TBH, I don't dislike the wheels..

Running boards if you want/need them. I had Rough County AL2 steps on my Taco and loved them!

Tonneaus are always nice to have. Currently have the Bak Revolver X4S on my truck. Love it on my new truck

You can go broke, and disable the vehicle if the wrong modifications are applied too fast. Here is a list of some:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-mods-tips.428840/

Best advice for now ... decide how you will use, where you will use. If new to off-roading, try some easy trails to see if you will do more before investing in lifts/37s/sliders/skids/etc.

You should have a need for the modification you add.

    Have fun, though finding out.

I doubt that it's tuned. I believe the wheels are from a limited 4Runner, not a big fan of how they look on the Tacoma.

Nice. Is it already lifted or is that just the angle of the picture?

If after driving it a while you get the feeling it's shifting way too much and isn't using power like it should, it's probably not tuned. I have an Overland Torque Tune and am so glad I got it. A little pricey at $450, but so worth it IMO. Makes it drive more like a truck than a horse and buggy.

I thought it looked lifted as well. I'm not sure if it's the angle or the larger wheels that make it look like that. It'll be in my driveway on Friday and I'll take a closer look.

Pro grill is kool. But the OR grill, to me, is one of the best…if not the best…looking truck grills (OEM or aftermarket) out there. Seems like everyone puts the pro grill as de facto upgrade.

Definitely a good call to replace the wheels…get some 16” or 17” TRD or aftermarket wheels of your choice.
I got the Bakflip MX4 tonneau and although it works great, I was not thrilled about the initial quality when I opened the box. But it seems to have a good following here.

    Congrats on the new truck!

Drive it for a while. Then decide what you need.
