Hey guys, sorry I'm a newb. Thought you might be able to point me in the right direction. Within in the next 6 months - one year I will be buying a Tacoma. I have a 2004 4Runner right now (I love it but it is getting up there in mileage).

What I want in my new Tacoma: Sport model, double cab, standard bed.

My question is: what is the ideal year(s) to be considering when it comes to features/value/upgrades from previous years? I was reading 2014s are rip offs, but are there any major differences in the 2009-2013s? Which would I get the most "bang for my buck"? Thanks!

Just wait for a '15 if you want changes.. Not confirmed but a whole lot of talk about changes with the '15 models.. Who says the 14's are rip offs? Not much of a change from the '13 but most definitely not a rip off.. Your still getting a great truck.. I have a 13 and love it.. Sorry if I was no help!!

I just traded my 2007 for a 2014. Don't know who told you the new ones are rip offs. Differences are subtle but noticable. The common thread through all the Gen-2s are when taken care of they hold their value very well. So far the thing I like best about my 2014 are the TRD Sport seats. My guess is the seats are improved in all the models but I don't know.

Unless you find a good deal on an 09-11, you might as well buy a new one. They hold their value so well that you're not going to save much money buy a used 1 or 2 year old.

If you can wait, I'd hold out for the 15s to see if they will get a redesign.

Gotta love the JBL sat/nav/Bluetooth, backup camera, 110 outlet in bed. You still have to add your own Weathertech mats, Redline Tuning hood struts and OEM bed mat.

Gotta hate that stupid noise from smog pump when you shut off the engine.

2013 is the year you want. There are so many threads on here about people complaining that they didn't get the compass / temp in their rear view mirror in their 14 that we don't need to add another.

I would suggest that you continue to save your money and wait on the 2015 as they will be on the market in about 9 months. The government has mandated higher MPG for that year and it will also most likely be the first of the 3rd generation.

Are you looking for a new truck or used? How much are you looking at spending? What features do you want and what are deal breakers? 4wd or 2wd?

I would figure out what features you want to go along with the double cab/standard bed. Get on a website like autotrader or kelly blue book and see what they are going for then determine what you want to do. You have 6-12 months so you have plenty of time to do some research and find a good deal.

I like my 2010 but I wanted a used 4wd. Plus, if I was going to spend 30K plus on a truck, it wouldn't have been on a mid-sized truck. Would have been a full sized truck.

Got my 2013 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport, best vehicle I ever owned. The only thing l hate is the annoying seat belt chime - ask the dealer to remove the chime.
