    Mexican isn't a race its a nationality. o_O

Edit: and the believe that Toyota trucks made in Japan are superior to the ones made in America? Which I believe also to be true.

lol Are you seriously pulling that card? One can be racist against Mexicans or any nationality without them being technically a race, you melon.

The rear legroom numbers are incorrect. Go sit in both.

If there is a quality issue with them being built in Mexico, that is on VW. The company sets the standards, not someone's ethnicity.

I have the luxury of riding in both and it's not close. Taco is amazingly cramped.

No but the location of where something is manufactured isn't racism. I had a type r made in the uk, and it was the worst quality Honda I've ever owned. I also used to sell Honda and we got a shipment of Mexican accords in from that no one else wanted in their allocation. The quality was definitely inferior.

Should we be up in arms whenever we talk about cheaper Chinese light bars?

it has to do with skilled labor. the higher the skill the more they get paid and usually the better they assemble things. Lets not pretend that toyota isnt in mexico because its not cheaper to produce the truck there.

I had a Pennsylvania made VW Golf back in the 80s before they closed and moved to Mexico, it was a really good car that I had for 11 years and 200,000 Miles before it got totalled in a hit and run.

I don't think racism is the right word to use here. I think the issue is that Mexican built cars, historically, have fared worse in terms of build quality compared to those made in the US and other countries like Japan and Germany. The statistics back this up. As a result of many years of inferior build quality, Mexico garnered a less than desirable reputation, and that reputation will take a while to reverse, but it is definitely improving as of late, and the Tacoma is just one example of that.

I probably wouldn’t call that a reliability issue, though.

Rottencotton didn’t specify why he would imagine that the Texas Tacos would be more reliable than those made in Mexico, though, which prompted SD to imagine the worst; and sometimes there’s veiled racism in how people ask questions or phrase things, for sure. Maybe we can give each other the benefit of the doubt and dial it back on this one so we can get back to anecdotal experiences about reliability?

Well said. I did specify that only the question bordered on racism, imo, but you're right, I shouldn't have assumed.
