Actually, I could have said it the other way around and the answer would be the same. What I was asking was there a difference in quality. Didn't mean to imply that Mexican vehicles were a lower quality but can see where my wording could be interpreted as such.

This question can't be answered yet. Toyota reliability is about quality of driveline builds that are still reliable after 10-20 years and 250k+ miles.

I do not own a 4R, nice car, but I personally have no need for it as I haul crap daily.

However, I trust facts over "feels bigger" from folks on TW. Not trying to be a jerk, but I have seen this time and time again. Go to Toyota.com and look the posted dimensions on both, the Toyota.com figures match the KBB & Edmunds figures....

Hence the reason I mentioned they’ve been on the road 4 years. For most people, that’s about 60,000 miles under normal driving conditions if you bought right when they came out.

There are a few folks way above 60k miles but that is not normal.

That said, Toyota will be approaching the millionth 3rd gen they’ve made soon. I’d say given what I’ve seen here, their reliability seems to be tracking well and the high resale continues to be a strong indicator.

I'm Latino myself, but come on this whole thread has become a shit show. Just stop, both sides. Damn.

But, wherever cars are made, it doesn't matter. Look at the Austrian made BMWs and their reliability... or the Mexican made Fords... It's all about production standards and quality which seem to have taken a hard hit in the past decade.

well you can go ahead and think whatever you want if it makes you feel better.

But the fact that many here tell you that it feels better I think is pretty important.

Everyone that gets in a 4runner will tell you it feels better and bigger and more comfortable and thats a fact.

I have in the past and would still argue that there is no 3rd generation Tacoma. The 2016 Tacoma is a heavily updated 2nd generation Tacoma, not a new generation. I've got facts and experience to back that up as well, and I'm sure a lot of owners do as well, but the arguments from 3-4 years ago always devolved into an abstract fight about what it means for a vehicle to be a new generation, so I gave up.

All that said, because of how big the update was, there were still a lot of "new model" type issues that crept up due to being a new powertrain, drivetrain, and interior/electronics setup. In fact I would say that it's a bit worse because not only were there all the new issues, but some of the things that had been issues for years on the 2005-2015 trucks continued on with the 2016 trucks. So it was a combination of old issues that were difficult for Toyota to find/rectify and new issues because of the updates.

There were also good things that carried forward as well though, and the fact that much of the replacement and aftermarket components can continue to be used is also a nice feature.

I agree. Which is why I'm interested in what the 4th Gen Tacoma is going to be like. I don't see it being a continuation of the current models but something very different than the 2nd and 3rd Gen.

    >4Runner has shorter wheelbase and tighter turn radius

my experience the tacoma has a better turning radius.
the 4runner has the better engine/trans combo.

The Tacoma has a turning diameter of 40.5 ft for AC and DCSB and 44.1 ft for DCLB. The 4Runner is 40.4 ft.

Lexus/Toyota is definitely best product on the market. By no means it is perfect, but much, much better than whats being offered out there.
