I can't tell if the letters are stamped into the tailgate, or the bumper. There is quite the recession from the upper portion (what looks to be the tailgate) and where the letters are. Maybe it's an extension of the bumper or something?

seeing how the hitch wiring is built into the bumper I am going to speculate that tow package will be standard like the 4runners.

 

Yes the design is stolen from the super duty. Or sorry its a blatant rip off.

I've got no problem if it takes some design aspects from the new 4runner and the new tundra, I think it would looks pretty sweet.

 

Dude, trucks have had stamped tailgates far before that stupid Super Duty POS. It also has 4 wheels, guess it ripped off every vehicle before it that had 4 wheels.

So Audis came out with running LEDs in headlights, then mainly every other manufacturer decided to put LEDs in their headlights like Hondas. Is that stolen? No, just another current design aspect.

TBH it's kind of pathetic that the F150 and other full sizers are starting to get upwards of 25mpg and the Tacoma gets less for a smaller, lighter truck when it could be doing much better than those outfits. That is the biggest gripe against it. And I'm pretty sure all vehicles are falling under new MPG requirements for 2016 depending on their size and weight. Midsize trucks and SUV's have to make 35mpg or better and full size has to make 25mpg or better I believe but am not completely certain. That's the reason Toyota is dropping the regular cab Tacoma because it's wheelbase length puts it in a whole new, stiffer category for MPG requirements and Toyota doesn't want to invest the time or money into a truck that doesn't sell.

 

All those pics of trucks are similar, but I'm referring to recessed not raised lettering, in bold, across the bottom of the tail gate. My opinion, but I believe thats where toyota got the idea from.

 

What size lettering? How deep of a recess? Letter spacing?

 

Tail light looks similar in shape to the 2nd gen.

 

You're right they do, and with the fender looking similar I'm wondering if were going to see a lot of recycled design on this "new" truck.
