I think that is to be expected. The first and second gen Tacoma are very similar in proportion and basic shape. Evolutionary styling is probably a good idea for the truck market.

Hell of a lot less than the 2000 nose conversion people still do. Plus, that price will go down sooner or later.

    Well you see..
    This
Ever driven one of those "25+ MPG trucks"? I'll stick with the Tacoma

I like the pic of the stamped tailgate. I hope that the tacoma keeps an original look as opposed to looking like a mini tundra.

I kinda like the stamped tailgate, but TBH I like the location of the Tundy better. Curious to see so much plastic cladding on the rear bumper in that photo, too. I hope that isn't a big feature on the redesign, a lot of black cladding looks really cheap, a la Chevrolet Avalanche and Honda Element.

Hopefully it's just enough to give a sturdy bed and tailgate. Most vehicles I have seen have their plastic parts much thicker than ours and theirs don't need to be replaced

Think we need a little reading comprehension lesson here.

I will be satisfied with some more modern styling, a few better MPG and a more powerful V6. I plan on getting a DCLB option for my next Taco (beening holding out for a brand new one so I can see the new design first).

Seems like the front end would be Tundra-esque. For the rear design to not look entirely out of place, the front end has to be fairly angular, less curvaceous as the current model. I could see it for sure borrowing some styling cues from the Hilux front end.

I wouldn't really mind that as long as the MPGs are up to the standard of what a truck this size should get. I don't want them through the roof, I just want them competitive. The reason I even mention that is most people say the Tacoma is not aerodynamic and as we know the Tundra gets 13 MPG.

I know, Tundra MPG is awful.

Out of curiosity, what do you think the Tacoma should be getting for competitive MPG?

I like the angles on the tundra front end. Just don't like how huge the grill is. It seems like its 3 feet from bottom to top. What I like about mid-sized pickups is that they look more athletic and better proportioned whereas full-sized trucks are all about has the bigger dick (ie the front grill). I want to be able to take my new Taco off road without ripping off a plastic air dam if possible.

I wonder too if the front end won't be pretty similar to the current TRD Pro, as far as the grill goes anyway, if you take the tailgate stamping into consideration and try to imagine a front grill design.
