I'm sure it will when it sells. A lot of states require mud flaps.

Right, which isnt much better than an auto tacoma. I think it's gonna be hard to squeeze great mileage out of a non hybrid motor.

I am guessing it will match or slightly beat the Colorado MPG. Toyota knows they don't need steller MPG to keep selling more Tacomas than the competition.
I wish they would have put some angular accents in the doors. It seems that the front and the bed are one truck, and the cab is just the old truck, which I guess is what it rally is.
Don't get me wrong, I still like it, I am just giving my armchair review.

I hear you but remember, GM is coming out with a diesel and so is Nissan for the Frontier. Both will will be 4 cylinder turbo diesel so I'm thinking they are shooting for 28 hwy mpg. Unless Toyota offers something to counterattack this I believe they (Toyota) will lose some sales. Last don't forget Honda with it's Ridgeline is coming back (late 2015) and word has it Honda wants it to be a Hybrid truck with aim of 30 hwy mpg. So good competition for Toyota IMO.

Toyota will have to increase the mpg no mater what with the cafe standards increase in 2025. The fleet mpg is suppose to be like 45mpg or something.

I don't have any issue with hybrid technology in a car or truck, but it isn't something I would prefer in a vehicle I plan to keep indefinitely. My cousin has a hybrid and his batteries died in his car. Replacement batteries were around $5000-$6000. Luckily his were replaced under warranty, but they will die again outside of warranty.

If i new I wasn't going to keep it long then I wouldn't worry about it.

Almost all the hybrids have aftermarket battery or refurbished battery options now

Break a significant part of your Tacoma drivetrain and the bill can reach $2K pretty easily

No doubt. It's just expensive to replace. If I wasn't gonna keep something for long I wouldn't mind owning one, but for the long term I would still prefer simple and reliable.

I thought a good chunk of hybrids use LiPo cells? Those aftermarket ones are NiMH. Is NiMH becoming popular in hybrids? I don't follow the technology closely but I'm curious other than cost considerations, safety, and availability why you'd use NiMH cells.

    huh?!!
the tacoma chassis is dated and the drivetrain is behind the competition...as its to be expected it of a 10 year old design. it aint broke, but it aint up to date either

    1-how about a boxed frame
2-DISC BRAKES in the rear for christ sake
3- a better bed to cab connection so that it doesnt look like they're connected by rubber as it goes down a grave l road
4-better legroom for rear passangers on 4 door models so adults can fit
5-an engine on par with the competiton, maybe even diesel?
6-a usable payload for the bed maybe?

thats just off the top of my head right now.
if this is in fact the exact same truck of the last 10 years, i bet this model also has that 15-25mph hard acceleration drivetrain shake that so many tacoma suffer from and i bet the towing capacity stays the same. I hope I'm horribly wrong and they somehow kept the same exact outside truck and completely changed everything else to be up to date with 2015 standards, but i already noticed the drum brakes in the rear so I'm not optimistic.
