No orange turn signal. Why do they do that?!!!

    It is so much safer!

Bring back the orange turn signal!!!

Is the cab the same stamping? Looks
Like more angle on rear of back door window.

    Sure looks identical otherwise.

I like it. I want one.

    However:
I am still saying that this is a Gen 2.5, not a Gen 3.
It is the same truck underneath it all as the Gen 2.
The frame has been stiffened, there's a new engine, improved interior etc. etc., but it's a new suit of clothes on the same guy. They are all incremental improvements.

I'm not saying this is bad or good (mostly good because I want one...) it's just the reality of the 2016 model. Don't flame me fanboys, and don't say, "If you don't like it go buy a Colorado" because I DO like it.

If that's so, then at least they'll probably be interchangeable.

If your referring to the special 3rd brake light on the limited I'd almost bet it's just special styling to match the funky chromed tail lights.

What would be your definition of a redesign?

I hope toyota realizes that we do not want any chrome on our trd sport. They need to differentiate the sport and the limited by colormatching/blacking out almost everything on the sport in my opinion.

We already knew there was no disc brakes from the first picutures, which is a good thing.

New frame, new transmissions, new transfers, new V6 engine, new differentials, new brakes, new ABS system, new suspensions.

The only thing the same so far is the 2.7 I4 engine (which has been retuned to match its new transmission). Everything else is completely different. Are you going to come back and say it is a 2.9 Gen now?

Basically 90% of the pages in the 2nd gen factory service manuals are now irrelevant. To me that is clearly a 3rd gen.

They said they kept the drums for better braking.

I agree with him. While most things have been changed its still the same cab, box and body with slight modifactions to them. 1st gen to 2nd gen was a completely new body, cab and box.

Yes, I'm quoting the changes from the chat session with the Tacoma lead engineer that just ran from 2:30 to 3:00 EST.

The one thing not clear is just how much of the brakes are new, they discussed the brakes and mentioned they were still drum and that they had new ABS controllers and different ABS systems for the OR vs other trim packages. It wasn't 100% clear how many components of the brake system was different, but it is a new braking system.
