First round is on me brother. :drunk:

I will definitely read about these shocks, with that many wins, it sounds interesting. Me personally, I’ve been using Bilsteins for as long as I can remember. I’m always open to competition though, if they can provide the performance, reliability, longevity, and the price point.

By reading this thread... It appears many of my doubts were confirmed. The ZR2 is a knock off Pro with substandard parts for Pro pricing. Maybe the poor feedback from these trucks will motivate chevy to redesign and make it better, and be a true competitor in the future. It just seems like the zr2 is supposed to be a Pro, but isn’t any better than the TRD OR.

Agreed though, hopefully OP makes the right call!

Did your friend end up picking the Off Road or ZR2?

Well I traded in my 16 diesel colorado z71 2 months ago with 56k miles in 26 months. It was pretty good vehicle. I was really torn between getting a zr2 or the OR. Well one thing I hated in the chevy was it was so.bland interior and hates the wide sides and wierd rake. It did develop lots of rattles after 36k and I wasn't going to chase them or pay to get dealer to do it. That said it had couple issues under warranty for emissions and had couple outside warranty that cost me $800 at about 45k miles. Also felt like rear leafs needed replaced or shocks or something. Well I ended up with an 18 pro mainly because when I saw one in person I really liked it so I got it. As far as resale on the tacoma and colorado I'll see in 2 yrs if there is a big difference or not. My trade wasn't good at all on colorado but they started discounts on them a lot a year later so it was not good for me on cost of ownership after 26 months and 56k.

$24100.00 I also had katskin leather and bose system and nav. Msrp on mine was 41360. That said I know you could can buy a new one at that time for $6000 off msrp so that hurt trade.

Katskin i added week after I got truck so that wasn't part of msrp. If I'd of bought mine for 6k off when I got it it would if been lot better cost. We will see how the tacoma does when I trade it. Everyone says it will do good but we will see when that time comes

That is a big hit. Then again they pretty much always get ya if you want to trade in a rig. In my state at least it’s best to sell private.

That zr2 will be worth $5,000 in 10 years.

If it were equipped with a diesel, it would be a tough choice. I went back and forth between a Twin Diesel and the Taco. If they're both gassers, Taco all the way.

It's funny that people automatically write off the Colorado as being less reliable solely based on branding. Both gas engines haven't been around long enough to say which is more reliable. However, that diesel is a tried and true platform. Unless this 3.5 ends up being the best V6 Toyota ever produced, it won't outlast that diesel.

The old 3.5 V6 went to 300K miles easily.

    Both trucks are good.

The Zr2 has really low Rear shocks. My co-worker has one, and I was looking at it one day. I would easily break those shocks on a trail.

The Tacoma has a Joke power train.
