    Hello,

I totaled my Tundra and just bought a 2017 Tacoma from Car Max.
I was sitting in the truck checking everything out with the truck with the key in accessory position so I could play the radio and a warning popped up saying "check charging system" I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the battery.

Went home and same thing happen. It only come up when the key in accessory mode. I called the dealer and they said it was normal.

I call my son who has a newer Tacoma and he says his doesn't do that.

Can anyone else tell me if theirs does this or not.

    Thanks everyone!

I have a 2017 as well and it does the same thing. I don’t even notice it anymore. Haven’t had one problem in almost five years.

Mine has done it. It'll do it if I'm camping, and have it in acc mode. I don't use acc mode too much because of it.

My '17 does it as well. It is just the system acknowledging that with the key on the charging system isn't providing any input. This is due to the alternator not being spun.

I actually like knowing that the truck has this feature, as I am sure it will come up 20 years from now when the alternator or respective wiring takes a crap on me.

I have a 2017. I use the accessory position all the the time. I have never had the "Check Charging System" warning. Are you sure you have it in Accessory and not in run.20220304_165932.jpg
    Position 1 is off
    Position 2 is Accessory
    Position 3 is Run/On
    Position 4 is Start

The Charging system should not be on in the accessory position. So the charge warning is not normal.

He mentioned "key in the accessory position". I thought it was a physical key.

Your check engine light tells me you are in the "Run/On" position. This light does not turn on in the Accessory position.

You might be right. I'll have to check again if I have mine in the Acc ot Run position.
