Could be, I did see a 24 F-150 at the dealer today first one I have noticed in person. Seen a 24 SR5 and TRD Sport 4G The Sport was at Auto zone, presumably the owner was buying some chrome accessories.

Glad we’ve come back around to the ever without merit “turbos can’t do high output with reliability” conversation.

    Diesel doesn’t count.

Toyota isn’t building these hybrid turbo vehicles because it’s the best choice for the powertrain, they are being forced to do so.

Otherwise, every last one of these would have a naturally aspirated V8.

I couldn't get over the looks to even sit in one. My 2011 was the last one I have driven.

I hear you....I hate the front end...but I will say it looks better in person. Still not buying one though.

I didn’t say anything about diesel, did I? And yes, it does count. Forced induction is forced induction. You just don’t like it because you’re salty.

I saw a biue 4th gen on the road today, and it looked much better in person than I thought it would. Gives me hope for the new 4R.

I’ve had four forced induction German cars, I wouldn’t call a single one of them a keeper. My naturally aspirated 991 refuses to die after 150k+ miles.

I’m bothered that there is no naturally aspirated choice anymore.

My old 1.8T GTI that I sold to my sister’s ex is still kicking on the original motor just fine well over 200K by now. I’ve owned four German turbo motors and two that were higher mileage. Never an issue.

Turbos are here to stay. Jeep is all in on the 2.0T and new 3.0T. GM has the 2.7T (in midsize and full size platforms). Ford has the 2.0-3.5T options. They all make more efficient power than their larger NA counterparts. Only thing knowing they all had was port injection cycles to burn off carbon buildup (direct injection isn’t exclusive to turbo applications).

Time to buy a Ridgeline (I assume):
    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42662418/honda-35-v-6-engine-dohc/

This is their answer to the same problem everyone else is solving with smaller displacement forced induction.

Or, there are Toyota's non-turbo hybrid models (not in a BOF vehicle, though). These are arguably lower stress than traditional NA ICE's.

I mean isn’t the idea behind the added strength valve design and larger water intake designed to mitigate two of the biggest failure points of turbo engines? Added compression and added heat?

That’s a pathetic score for their top of the line midsize. No wonder they needed to add a front locker. That way it can actually keep up with a trd off-road.

If I could deal with the turn signal noise and door chime of Fords I'd probably have one. I have to drive an F150 for work sometimes and it's just grating to me.

I had a 2007 B400 (ranger) and absolutely loved it. I had it for 7 years and she never let me down. Bought her used with 35k miles, sold with 165k miles.

Replaced starter, 2 thermostat housings, AIC and TB. Rest was maintenance. Changed oil every 2500 miles or so. Seats were like new at 165k miles, cushions still firm.

I found the seats to be comfortable. Brakes yes, definitely not the best but got the job done. I didn’t mind the handling, even with 265/75/16 duratracs. Gas mileage was terrible after I added steel rims and these E rated tires.

Otherwise I really loved it and wish I didn’t have to sell it to buy my taco.

I was excited for the new ranger but when I saw it in person and no MT option, hard pass for me.

I drive Fords at work. Not bad trucks, I can find good stuff to say about them, but that sound reminds me of my job. Wouldn't be able to get over that.
