I am going to look at a 2005 Tacoma Double cab 4x4 6' bed SR5. It has 125k miles and I can get it for 12k but I want to know if there is anything in particular that I should look for or is there anything notorious for being bad on these trucks? Thanks for the help

    Lots.
Frame rust probably wouldn't be a problem in FL but I'd take a look underneath.

I have been doing alot of searching and I haven't found a 2nd gen double cab 4x4 for less than 14500 under 150k miles so I will probably jump on this depending on shape of the truck

just like any vehicle, make sure the mechanicals are in good shape. check records if available.

IMO, the price seems pretty decent for the year and miles.

Take a good look at the frame at the motor mounts as some of the 05's are said to have bad welds and cracking issues there.

Also, try to get a 30-day dealer's warranty. Be very wary of cars sold "as is." Many Toyota dealers I've dealt with over the years are honest. However, not all are. For instance, some dealers will reset a check engine light so it stays off during the test drive but comes back on after the buyer gets home.

If your state and/or county requires a vehicle inspection and emissions test then ask the dealer if you can take the vehicle for an official inspection before purchasing it. A good dealer should jump at this as even if you don't buy it will be a good selling point for the next customer.

Well, I am not buying from a dealer, but I checked out the truck and it seems to be in great shape so I will pick it up wednesday and then post some pictures

Check under the oil cap and make sure there is no sludge build up.
