I got my new Tacoma friday before Christmas. Its a 2002 sr5 4x4 2.7 5spd. It only has 72000 miles on the ticker. The old truck is identical except it is the automatic version and has 127,xxx miles. The old one is now in purgatory behind the local toyota dealer, destined for scrap or third world freedom fighters or wherever the rotted framed ones go. Last Wednesday I got the check from toyota for $12,757.50. A few hundred shy of the new one taxes in. It took toyota about a week from time of failed inspection to money in the bank. Its funny in the pictures because the old taco has a 2.5'' rough country lift on it and the new one has none. The new truck has a solid although very rusty frame. It came from Pennsylvania but Ill give it two years in NY before it fails and gets a new one. Either way I am enjoying the new truck. Ill post some more pictures once I start putting my aftermarket stuff on the new one. BTW I switched the steel wheels from the 2002 with the alloys from the 2000, they fit no problem. Thanks to all who helped me through the toyota frame process.

Just go to kbb.com, find used car values, select suggested retail value, put in all the features, milage etc. In vehicle condition select excellent regardless of your trucks shape. The value you get from the site plus 1/2 is what you get from toyota. My kbb value was around 8300 i think so that plus a half was 12757. thats how toyota does it. It would be a shame to see that one go to the wrecker though.
