Can someone confirm for me if I have this right. The fuse tap for the Morimoto headlights is only used if your truck doesn’t have factory DRL, correct? So a truck with factory DRL would be simple plug and play with the factory headlight connections?

Howdy - That’s exactly it. Factory DRL = 100% plug and play.

For anyone without factory DRL, I can attest that the fuse tap was quick, painless, and otherwise easy even for a knucklehead like me.

Hello, apologies for hijacking the conversation, but, does the statement above apply to projector headlights too?
Aftermarket headlights and using them with the OEM bulbs will produce poorer output?

Most of the time yes. MOST aftermarket housings (honestly, probably all but I don't know of every example) use inferior lenses and projector buckets. You will get reduced output with even OEM bulbs.

Thanks for the quick answer. Is good to know that is mostly about the lenses, that makes sense.
So, do you think that for an retrofit or BHLM project maybe it is a good option to go aftermarket since you probably will replace the lenses anyways?

Sorry this has probably been beat to death as a topic but the lighting thread was massive and I couldn't find a clear answer.

Up north we get screwed and can only get leds with a pro or nightshade trim. We all have standard daytime running leds though. If I wanted to swap to oem leds is this a simple plug and play or quite extensive? Thanks in advance.

Easy swap but you’ll need a harness. Hit up @daveeasa

You will need a separate harness to connect the OEM LED headlights. I got mine from xrunnerdude who makes a great set. Now I think everyone gets it from @daveeasa
Avoid TRS Harness, as it is a known issue that they blow fuses due to some wire being flipped.
