I am leasing a 2015 Tacoma Double Cab V6 Trd Pro with 6 foot box. I have very low KMs (16000) on it and I was looking at whether to buy it after the lease. Or go back and lease another one.
I was shocked at both the price for a new one and the available options that I have. I have the Black model and it has the TRD Pro package. Now they are running in the high 40s and don't seem to have many colour options. Maybe it is just the build and price but it doesn't show a 6 foot box in Black with the TRD package.
    What the heck has happened.
Also in such a short period I have heard that a lot of people are not happy with their 2016 and newer trucks.
I just thought I would get some opinions on the pricing and options, and what the general Tacoma population in Canada thinks.

I was able to find a TRD Sport demo at CH Toyota in Calgary. Added some aftermarket features and was able to get it around 40k. Super happy with it, no problems....knock on wood

How many KMs were on it? That may have been a factor in the lower price. I added a trifold cover, trunk mat, and wind deflector. They kicked in for the wind deflector. All I got off was 500. Their finance rates have gone through the roof as well I got 0% back then.

    I've got a 2016 Limited - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/help-de-chroming-2016-limited-taco.471905/#post-14268004

Was a little bummed with the options in US VS Canada at the time which is what lead us to getting a Limited - Really wanted the leather package. That being said, have fallen in love with it. There's some odd things that pop up like the dash map/radio/audio player resets every once and a while, and I do have a bit of a nice when driving 50/60km/h, but other than that it's a solid truck.. Much better than my 15' Frontier that I bought on a whim.

Looks like your software needs to be updated...!!

There is a thread on here about the Head Unit shutting down and re-booting.... It's just a software update.... The dealer should do it for you in about 10 minutes, if he is nice. You can check the software date on the H/U.... if it's dated 06/15, you are outdated likw mine was.!!

Hmm, the truck in your profile pic isn't a TRD Pro, it's a TRD Sport. The TRD Pro only became available in Canada in the 2016 and later model year. There were no 2nd gen TRD Pro Tacoma's sold in Canada.

The Tacoma price has gone up for two reasons for your. First off, Toyota has slowly been adjusting prices for the lower dollar. When you leased your truck they hadn't raised the price yet, so now you are seeing the effects of a low dollar. Secondly, you have looking at the TRD Pro now instead of a TRD Sport and there is a large premium built into the Pro. It's a name brand as much as it's an upgrade which adds intangible costs.

As for people being happy or unhappy with the 3rd gens I think that has a lot to do with what they expect out of them. The 3rd gen gave up some low end torque for slightly better fuel economy and traditional truck buyers are divided on that. Then of course there have been teething issues with the trucks as well.

Yes I mispoke. I do have a TRD Sport. I must have been looking at the pro before I wrote the thread. I am in Florida now and the local prices here are 43900. With my low KMs I will probably buy out the lease at it's end. I will take another look in 2018 when it is up and see what my options are. I must say I was pretty shocked at the difference in just a year and a half.

    Sorry, just caught this.

When driving at 50/60 there is a definite noise & vibration. When I took to the dealer they brushed it off as howling through my UCA and ordered plugs for it, but I doubt that's what it is.
