2006 Indigo Blue Tacoma Access cab 4X4 V6 TRD, Tow Package.
Double Din dash kit, Kenwood DNX 892 Nav/Stereo, Backup Cam, steering controls. Bully grill insert, side step bars. Nokian Rotiiva tires.
I have a 2006 4X4 Indigo Blue Toyota Tacoma Access cab 4.0 litre V.6 Automatic, TRD Sport package, Towing package. I ordered a Roll n Lock sliding cover for the box with organizing divider and tailgate ladder, so I can get my disabled butt up into the box. The truck will turn 10 yrs old in just a few hours, it has 69,000 km on the odometer (42,800 miles to my American neighbours) It still feels and looks new. Garage kept since new, never off road (I know it's a shame) I've never had a problem with it todate, Toyota has been excellent in replacing/fixing any recall items, i.e. beefed up leaf springs, new tailgate door, they sand blasted and sprayed new undercoating on the frame & I had to get new tires because the originals started breaking down from age, I put on Nokian Rotiiva on the stock cast aluminum rims. I've replaced the stock stereo with a Kenwood Excelon, (DNX 892) 7' touch screen with Nav, also replaced/upgraded all 6 speakers with Kenwood Excelon, it included steering controls and backup camera, The only other changes are a bully chrome grill and Toyota hood bug guard. The Motor is really clean, with only one change, a cold air intake system from Sceptre (definitely sounds much better, and maybe wee bit more getup and go) I primarily use it to haul sea kayaks and gear. I've owned two 4Runners, a 1999 SR5 sport I bought in 2002 and a Brand new 2011 limited. After some thought of not really needing two Toyotas, (maybe a slight mid life crisis) I traded in the 2011 4Runner in on a Brand new Audi cabrio sports car, loaded. So that's it, I love my Taco, but with kayaking or kayak camping I'm looking for something other than a Hammock or Tent if the trucks going to be in camp... I'm thinking Tear drop trailer, but it has to be super nice and comfy. My young days are long gone, so I wouldn't be terribly embarrassed to pull up in a 45 ft RV with full slides and sat phone, broadband and TV. But the Taco should suffice if outfitted properly for car camping (pulling a small trailer of sorts?)

I just bought an '05 and plan to add a Kenwood head unit and a backup camera. What brand/model is your camera? Where is it mounted? Can you see your hitch?

It looks like the license plate frame might be the simplest place to mount the camera, but I'm not sure that will give me a good view for hiking up a trailer.

    Love the blue truck!
