Kinda scary. Not much you can do against it, unfortunately. I have a camera above my driveway, but that only does so much. Hopefully, car manufacturers can come up with a way to counter the ability to hack the ignition, but I doubt it. I think we need to go back to good ole' fashioned turn-key igntions!

The article doesn't specify, but in researching - the police department referenced is in the greater Toronto area. As a New Yorker, I take what I read in the post with a grain of salt, but this is a potential thing that could happen I guess. Seems like a lot of work for your average theif/joyrider.

It's not "average thief/joyrider" kind of stuff. This is being done by highly motivated, big $$ cartels. The pawns doing the jacking are just street punks but the big boys sit back in the shadows and pay these guys as well as supply them with everything they need. Car gets jacked and in short order, it's in a shipping container destined for some far off lands.

You can disable your fob easily and NOT have to take out fuses or what-not. Hold down the lock button while twice pushing the unlock button. Your truck will lock and the fob led's will flash a few times and it will stop transmitting the code. Your door handle unlock function will not work so you will have to push the fob button to unlock the truck. This reactivates the fob, as well. We go through this every night when hanging the keys up.

It was a joke as most would be able to understand since I was responding to the guy who also jokingly suggested taking the wheels off.

    MSRP Price: $345?

Even at $293 that's expensive for a simple cargo divider...I guess because it's OEM?

Maybe we should just make it illegal to steal again. I know this doesn't make sense, just locking someone up in prison won't keep that person from stealing...Except escaping from prison to steal your car will add to the difficulty.

    It doesn't.

It's just a lame thing manual guys say to make people think they are superior to those that have autos and are younger than them. Just a tired trope. Most millennials I know can drive a manual.

Tell me... Which is easier to put into neutral without a key? It's not hard to roll a manual onto a truck.

In high school at least three of my friend's cars could be started without a key at all. I don't think it's much easier overall to steal a car these days.

Better hope the potential thief isn't among the 1.1 million people who have seen this video. If your Club has the access hole on the bottom, fill it up with JB Weld epoxy.

    What a misleading article title.

The Airtags are being used simply to track the vehicle. Any number of other GPS trackers could be used to do the same thing. Theft ring spots a high end target vehicle somewhere out in public during the day, puts a tracker on it, then goes to where it's parked at 3am to steal it.

Tossing an airtag into my glovebox now, so I can retrieve the truck by force from the thieves afterwards.
