OP.... the km3 is a much better off road tire, you will have vibration on the road, it's a mud terrain, but they are far quieter and smoother than almost ever other MT. The st maxx will be better on road, but give up off road traction. It's a matter of how much off roading you will be doing.

Both tires are likely to develope cupping, and get louder as they wear. My st Maxx did, and so did the KM2s.

My KM3s have less than 500 miles on them so can't report wear yet. They are slightly shorter than my 255/85 km2s were. Bfg says km2 was 33.3", km3 is 33.1"

I have about 100 miles on my 255/85/16 ST Maxx tires and have no complaints. I can say they are not quiet by any stretch of the imagination but they are much quieter than a dedicated mud tire. They have started to quiet down a bit with some miles on the tread blocks and there are no vibrations at all even though they all took 8-12oz to balance.

Great observation! The tide was coming in, and I just wanted the truck out of there. I was face down in the mud on the driver side and another person was face down on the passenger side. We were digging in the mud to break the suction that had occurred. The rear bumper didn't do too well. It was great justification to get a new bumper though. I must have a thing with rear bumpers. I dragged the right rear bumper on my 3rd Gen and broke the plastic. I was forced to replace it too!!!!!! $$$

I didn't think I had any rubbing, but I have found that at just the right turn and the right flex, it will rub on the front flaps. Not enough that I have done anything about it, but a little heat gun would fix it. Pretty minor.

I think mine are very quiet for the style of tire. I have Toyo Open County on my 4R and I think they are louder.

I am having my 255/85/16 st Maxx’s installed today so I can’t comment on their performance but from everything I have read and researched they will be great.
