I am in need of some new tires soon and I am really indecisive. I have the BFG K02's on right now and really like them. That being said im only 2wd and frequently offroad my truck to get out to the woods and mountains and it would be nice to have a little more traction in muddy conditions. Since i am a full time student 4wd is not an option at the moment. I can get the Falkens LT265/75/r16 for $640 and the BFG K02 LT 265/75/r16 for $730. Is there really any reason I shouldn't give the falkens a try? I cannot find a whole lot of information about them. Thanks!

Two very different tires.....an AT and a MT.

From one student to another, get what you need, for the price that you need.

Very good point. Unless I can find a quality issue with them il probably go with the Falken just on cost.

I love my Falken MT's, but they won't be as road friendly as the Kbro 2. I have the Falken Wildpeak AT3w on my 4 Runner and so far it's been a great all around tire and the price is right as well. The 2 tires you are comparing are like comparing apples to bananas.

Also have Falken AT3Ws. Still impressed with them and they're a fraction the cost of the K02s.

How have the MT's held up for you? I would rather have that extra traction and for some reason I can get them for 640 out the door which I think is a great deal. My hold up was the limited reviews on them not by people who had them as a sponsor. One review stated they had chunking issues that rendered the tires no longer good for road driving. Have you experienced that? Sorry for all the questions, really appreciate the input.

I have only had the M/T's for about 1k miles, but so far I've been very satisfied. I am gonna post a long term review.

I voted MT based on usage and price. I like the other option some have suggested, the AT3w. It is a hybrid so it will have better off road traction than the BFG's especially in mud having larger lugs and be better on the road than than the MT's. Not to mention they have great reviews and a much more reasonable price. Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm leaning towards the MT's now. For the price it makes sense. Il let you guys know what I decide and post it.

What kind of driving do you plan on doing? Road off road snow dirt? I work at the Costco tire center and sell KO2s every day. The KO2 is thee best off road tire you can buy. That's why the KO was around for 19 years before they finally made the KO2s because they wanted to make them right. It's decent on the weight for an OR tire. The sidewalk is reinforced so you don't have to worry about sidewalls getting blown out. The tread is an integrated locking pattern that helps grip for the best traction and stoping and even extends over the sidewalls. In between the pattern are bumps made to prevent punctures from rocks and sticks as well as mark tread depth at 2/32. KO2S actually start at 12/32 and can last you 80k in road miles, will very depending oh how you drive and what terrain. I might be prejudice but I'm well informed haha

Thank you very much for the input, jealous of your 3rd gen btw. I ended up purchasing the Falkens today. I currently have the K02's and do love them, just ended up finding a better deal for the Falkens and hoping they can save me a time or two from getting stuck. I take my truck places 2wd's probably shouldnt be haha.

I can say that I would probably stay with the KO2 if cost didn't matter and I was 4wd. I should have kept track a little better but I got around 45-50k out of mine but that was due to my laziness and not rotating them. First set of tires that I did not have any issues with. From what I experienced they are tough. The 10plys anyway. Il post my thoughts on the new ones once I run them for a little while. Not looking forward to making my slow little truck even slower with the weight but hey better than digging yourself out I guess.

How much do KO2s run at costco after install and does costco use the tpsm from the old tire or do you have to buy new ones I'm looking to buy some KO2s to go with the sema pro wheels I just got and looking for the best deal on some KO2s

If you go when Michelin is doing the $70 off you get $50 off for BFG. For the 265/70R16 it's about $900 otd with taxes, install, roadhazzard warrenty. If you want we'll swap the TPMS included with the install for free since the wheels are already off the vehicle. Honestly if you go 265/75R16 it's about $820 with the $50 discount. This size is cheaper because it's not as common as the stock 265/70. They fit stock with no lift and they are quieter on the road because of the beefier sidewall. I know 285/75R16 will fit too but might have minimal rub if you have mud flaps and are gunna run about $850 but are bigger tires.

Still consider the 265/75R17 having the extra 5mm aspect ratio does the same thing for the 16" and 17" rims. And they come out cheaper because of the uncommon size. Easiest and best thing to do is go to the tire center. If the sales guy has half a brain he'll get a quote for the 265/70 & 265/75 for you.
