My Toyo Open Country AT tires are bald. They didn't last 30K so I'm looking for a better replacement. Needs to handle... Northeast Winter snow, summertime beach trails and the occasional rutted fireroad, but 90% highway driving.

    Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Can't beat the versatility of this tire. They last forever on a tacoma.

Also, suggest considering going for the 235/75/16 if you want better winter traction.

Either of those tires are good. I prefer a more aggressive look so went Duratrac.

Hankook Dynapro ATm's. I haven't tried them in snow yet. They had a good rating though.

I am thinking heavily of Cooper AT/3 or the BFG Rugged Terrain (not the rugged trail) to replace the stock tires on my Access Cab. But at 25k miles and the tires looking in excellent shape, it might be a while. We have the Rugged Terrains on the Wrangler and they have exceeded all expectations. Come snow and ice, the blizzacks go on the Jeep and Firestone Winterforce UV w/studs goes on the Taco.

Sidewall aspect ratio, in other words the height of the sidewall. The 235/85 are taller tires.

I was thinking about the Toyo's but only 30k thats not going to cut it for me so I guess I'm back to the Bridgestone Revo 2's which I had on my 1st Gen and they were awesome.

Toyo was a great tire but yea, only 30K and they're almost bald. I'm going to try the BF Goodrich this time.

The issue there is most 235/85/16's are going to be 10 ply load rated tires and will offer a very harsh ride on a taco. The 245/75/16 has many more options in 4 ply P metric load.

I like the BFG Long Trail T/A's I have ran 3 sets of these on my Nissan's over the years and always get around 60K out of them with regular rotations.

This. Either one of those or the Goodyear Silent armors.

I'm not trying to be insulting but why do people like the BFG AT's so much? I've never seen any review of any kind where they rated better than several other tires.

But I think Selena is hot! :D

Those BF Goodrich were expensive but they look good and the general consensus is that they are very good tires for my needs. I'll post back up when the BFs wear out and give my personal review... hopefully in 40K+ miles.
